I was convinced it was Mayberry. It was a place where people with spotless karma ended up. What a beautiful place with beautiful people!

"One of the messages I had was that this bill was the cause of our drought. This bill was the cause of our drought. Well, if any of you follow my Twitter account, you will see that in the Pakurange electorate this morning it was pouring with rain. We had the most enormous, big gay rainbow across my electorate. It has to be a sign, sir."

Alan Grayson. Henry Waxman. Bernie Sanders. Elizabeth Warren. Maybe Al Franken. That's pretty much the entire list of American politicians that could give a speech like this (on any subject).

...put two words together in a righteous cause, or even in their own dirty causes.

In NZ, they don't allow one. private. far rightwing-connected. corporation (ES&S, which bought out Diebold) to 'count' virtually all the votes using 'TRADE SECRET' code, with NO AUDIT AT ALL in half the states and a miserably inadequate 1% audit in the other half.

Our system is rigged to produced dumbfuck office holders. Look around!

It's obvious that NZ counts all their votes IN THE PUBLIC VENUE, along with other safeguards like limiting corporate campaign cash and insisting on decent news media.

It's sad and embarrassing, yes, but we need to face it--we really do--and start putting our democracy and our intelligent, well-educated, articulate and progressive society back together again, minus some malefactors that have been fucking us over for some time ("military-industrial complex," banksters, corporate media...).
