Of course, I was 12 and in TN so I had no idea what it really meant. I didn't know what a Jew was.

He quit using that phrase as I got older. He was born in NC in 1924. He fought in the Philippines in WWII not Europe. I guess he didn't get the direct exposure to the Holocaust that people serving in Europe got.

I can sure tell you for his whole life he would never buy a Japanese car. War is gruesome.

Really?

Fucking unbelievable. It's like they don't even know they're bigots. They don't even hide it in the comforting privacy of their homes, or something.

They say, "I'm sorry that my comments offended some people."

IOW: "I'm sorry those thin skinned politically correct wimps out there exist."

I was 30 years old and have never heard it used outside of presentations on diversity or in movies. It was surreal to have it said directly to me, especially since I was the only Jew on a staff of over 200. For the most part, many don't really think about its implications. I always find it interesting that the term "to Jew someone" can mean "marked up prices" or "cheapened exchange," exact opposites.

it took all of seven seconds for his people to get to him and for him to apologize. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there saying he shouldn't have to apologize, but this guy isn't one of them.

At the end of the day, ignorant blow hards try to hide ignorance and prejudice... Not you, buddy... You're alright with it.
