Ding-Dong The Witch Is Dead Heads For U.K. No. 1

"Ding Dong the Witch is Dead," the tune from the Hollywood classic "The Wizard of Oz," has become a conduit for Margaret Thatcher protests in the U.K., driving the song up toward No. 1 in the country's charts this weekend ahead of the former prime minister's funeral on Wednesday.

Seems like a staunch protector of government excess would NOT favor lavish amounts of cash being spent on a single citizens death...y'know, stealing bread and milk from those truly suffering to give a state funeral...is it just me or is this sounding very wacky?

The Thatcher foundation is paying some, but it is normal for Prime Ministers (and Presidents for that matter) to have a publicly funded funeral. Her's is bigger than most (since Churchill) because she was the longest serving, first female prime minister. She also left an enduring legacy, which did change the centre ground of UK politics, even after 13 years of Labour rule.

Maybe I can score some contraband "King Dons" from Canada, but dammit it just won't be the same.
