George Takei: My Broadway debut at age 75

&feature=player_embedded#!

George Takei presents a heartfelt story of his early years in a Japanese internment camp in Arkansas, to an interest in history and civil rights, to studying theater at UCLA, and an undying fascination with Broadway. He discusses his new musical "Allegiance."

14 minutes of pure joy.

I saw a Perry Mason episode a few weeks ago where George had a major role. That must have been around 1962 or so -- not too long after his disappointment on Broadway.

I love those Perry Mason and Twilight Zone shows. There are so many great actors who got their start on those two programs.

George Takei is really comfortable in his skin. As a former Star Trek cast member or as a former imprisoned Japanese American. Or as an out LGBT American.

What he has figured out about social media is very important. One has to include a sense of humor, and possibly many kittehs, to make a splash. (Of course, it helps if you played Lt. Sulu.)

I have nothing but high admiration for what he is doing, and what he has done. He is an incredible force in today's cultural media. Good for him.

Maybe he should join up with Nichelle Nichols, who has also done some cultural outreach.

On edit: Ahead, Warp factor 6.
