(7,875 posts)Absolutely must be a lie if it comes from a liberal- but if a conservative tells them the same thing... The consequences of living in a parallel universe...

(48,773 posts)A recent healthcare poll got lots of play in the news: Republicans like healthcare reform ideas. However, when the exact same proposals were presented as Obama's ideas, they were rejected overwhelmingly.
Ideology over reason. Faith over reality. Filtering before thinking instead of the other way around.

(4,840 posts)Wait.
They finally conclude what they've been loudly denying and liberals have been trying to convince them of for decades and we have done a disservice?

(4,113 posts)Most of the Repubs I know go around swaggering like they're authorities on everything. And I mean everything. Yet, they have to hear what the Limbaughs, Becks and Hannitys say before they form an opinion.

(32,723 posts)They believe we don't know what to say or think until we hear from someone like Rachael Maddow and that we worship her as a false God.
That's why whenever you say something from outside of their bubble they insist you give them the source so they can instantly discredit it and call you an idiot for falling for Liberal Propaganda.
These guys are parrots but are also self referential.

is like one of their biggest targets on the Right. They come up with some of the corniest and nonsensical insults for her, whether it's "Maddog" or "Madcow". I fail to see what rabid four-legged mammals have to do with a political cable TV host.

(15,681 posts)The bleach and peroxide must have seeped into whatever brain she (may have) had when she was a "young conservative". I'm sorry but there is nothing we can do for her now. It is too late.

(32,723 posts)During the ending credits they're interviewing survivors of the vampire attack on the prom.
"They had fangs. They were biting people. They had this look in their eyes,...totally cold. Animal. I think they were Young Republicans."
Trust me. As much as the media wants us to believe the country is 50/50 and half of the young people are represented by these Morans,...
...it's not.

(15,953 posts)I was gonna say for a young conservative she looks like she's led a pretty hard life. I guess when you're a conservative 45 is considered young since most of them pushing 80.

(9,895 posts)45? Young?
I am 42 and I do not consider myself "old", but by the same token I am also not going to be founding or acting with any group of "Young" Progressives or Democrats any time soon...oh well, to each their own.

(32,723 posts)But then, they still have holdovers from the Nixon Administration that consider former criminals from the Reagan Administration to be "the new guys". You're still considered a "kid" if you can't talk about your gall bladder surgery.

(417 posts)Democrats have made climate change a partisan issue?!?! You mean, in the sense that democrats think it is real, while conservatives have been cashing in on destroying our planet? If that makes it a partisan issue, so be it, but don't point fingers.
Anywho, what's the deal with conservatives and bow ties? Do they send out memos and agree to wear them on the same days? That video is like a walking ad for a suit shop. Seriously.

(32,723 posts)Dr. Who said they're "cool".
That's supposed to be funny to show that he doesn't know what is "cool".
Neither do these Morans.

(417 posts)Good point. They're kind of like the eleventh Doctor. Everybody knows the tenth Doctor was much cooler.

(32,723 posts)Imagine being introduced to "The Doctor" in his recent version and deciding to buy all of the DVDs from previous versions to discover to your horror it was a damn kiddy show.
savebigbird
(417 posts)Those DVDs are rather costly. I think the ninth Doctor is the best one to start with. After one develops an appreciation for it, it is then safe to watch Tom Baker's Doctor.
Spitfire of ATJ
(32,723 posts)The show suffered the same fate as a LOT of SciFi.
Lost In Space started out strong with the Dr. Smith character as an evil foreign agent trapped aboard before liftoff and trying to kill everyone on several occasions. It had some big time props like the chariot (which wasn't cheap to build) and had episodes with lots of science like the orbit of the planet causing radical temperature changes. Some episodes were pure adventure like fighting giants and some were outright creepy with telepathic attacks but later episodes were about the monster of the week where one of them was a talking carrot and the Dr. Smith character was reduced to a simpering and scheming coward who stole food and tried to sell them out for a ride home.
savebigbird
(417 posts)It's as if they ran out of material! How is that possible, considering all the scientific concepts that could have been integrated into the plot? I liked the older-new (strange term) episodes of Dr. Who because it got me thinking about time. That, and the cyber men were super scary...
Spitfire of ATJ
(32,723 posts)The Tom Baker version was with a female Time Lord on the Eiffel Tower and they talked about flying down to the ground but figured it would be showing off.
He later died from falling off of a tower.
....go figure...

(417 posts)Two words: River Song. I'll admit I still don't fully understand her killing The Doctor - er - her husband. That whole traveling in time in opposite directions (bad term, I know) seems so Benjamin Button-esque. Sometimes I wonder about the writing.

(16,916 posts)who cares if they're stupid, partisan, selfish sheep?
I don't. I don't care a damn bit. They can even blame Dems for the problem, who gives a fuck?
I care about my children and grandchildren, the world they'll inherit, and the air and water they won't.

(24 posts)Hello Mr. Scientist, what did you find? An asteroid 50 miles wide about to hit the earth? Interesting...let me ask you...are you a Democrat or Republican? A Democrat? Then I don't believe you!
I mean, come on, you mean political affiliation makes all the difference? It's sad for our race.
