Obama's Best Jokes from the White House Correspondents' Dinner

Obama's Best Jokes from the White House Correspondents' Dinner

"These days, I look in the mirror and I have to admit, I'm not the strapping young Muslim socialist that I used to be."

"I know CNN has taken some knocks lately, but the fact is I admire their commitment to cover all sides of a story, just in case one of them happens to be accurate."

"I know Republicans are still sorting out what happened in 2012, but one thing they all agree on is they need to do a better job reaching out to minorities. And look, call me self-centered, but I can think of one minority they could start with. Hello? Think of me as a trial run, you know? See how it goes."

On reaching out to Congress: "Some folks still don't think I spend enough time with Congress. 'Why don't you get a drink with Mitch McConnell?' they ask. Really? Why don't you get a drink with Mitch McConnell?"

On the sequester: "Republicans fell in love with this thing, and now they can't stop talking about how much they hate it. It's like we're trapped in a Taylor Swift album."

Not sure who wrote these for the President (or whether he wrote them himself), but somebody did a great job. These jokes are really funny.

No matter what one thinks of the President, he's a very intelligent person. That much is clear.

But damn, those are some pretty good jokes. Usually the jokes tend to be on the hokey side (Colbert's speech back during Bush excepted).

I still think the entire event has become a travesty given how rotten and corrupt and cozy with power our media is. It was one thing when the media used to be adversarial and they had a night to come together. Now it's all just a celebration of how much they all love each other and their access to power.
