Police face discipline in deadly Ohio police chase
Source: TwinCities.Com/Pioneer Press
Cleveland's police chief says a dozen department supervisors are facing internal discipline charges stemming from a chase that ended with 13 officers killing two unarmed people by firing 137 shots.
Chief Michael McGrath announced Tuesday that a police captain, a lieutenant and 10 sergeants are being disciplined.
He says all 12 showed a lack of leadership during the 19-mile chase in November that went through downtown Cleveland and other neighborhoods before ending in gunfire that killed a driver and his passenger. Both had cocaine in their systems but neither was armed.
An internal police review showed that officers and supervisors broke policies. The chief says a review is continuing into whether any officers will be disciplined.

as if the presence of drugs in their systems would somehow justify execution by cops.

(13,037 posts)Thanks for posting.
I did a quick web search and found many interesting articles about this case.
61 police officers and 51 police cars were involved in the chase.
No weapons or drugs found.
The autopsy revealed the male and female had cocaine in their systems.
The female was shot 24 times.
The male was shot 23 tunes.
The victims names are Malissa Williams (30 years old) and Timothy Russell (43 years old).
One officer climbed on top of the car firing bullets into it. He fired 49 times. He doesn't recall jumping onto the car the suspects were in.
I hope their families get justice.

(11,064 posts)Will the discipline include being SUSPENDED WITH PAY?
And, of course, AG Holder will do absolutely nothing.
