Jury convicts Ill. official of lying about water

CHICAGO (AP) — A one-time suburban Chicago official was convicted Monday of lying for decades about drawing water for residents from a well tainted by a cancer-causing chemical.
The only Crestwood official to go to trial in a scandal that shocked the region for the apparent callousness displayed by village officials stared down at the defense table and showed no emotion as a judge read the verdict.
But Theresa Neubauer, 55, struggled to keep her composure 15 minutes later as she spoke to reporters at the federal courthouse in Chicago.
"I'm devastated," she said, her voice breaking.
Prosecutors said the village for decades mixed contaminated well water with cleaner but pricier water from Lake Michigan to keep water rates low. It infuriated residents and left many fearing for their health.

They wanted to get away from the shadow and pollution of their working environment in that neighborhood's Sherwinn Williams Paint Co.
Apparently they jumped from one toxic environment to another 
I'm shocked. 
There was something about this story that bugged me, something I had seen before somewhere, in one of those Reich-wing emails we all get. Crestwood. Tainted water. Elected officials knowing and hiding the truth from the rest of the town.
Then I started looking. And I found it! Did you ever get an email with this image?
I got it years ago and started digging and found out the Mayor of Crestwood, identified in the image, and others were under investigation over the water problem mentioned in this post. This is the same town that had this sign!
