Manchin: Gun Bill to be Reintroduced

Source: Associated Press

(WASHINGTON) — One of the architects of failed gun control legislation says he’s bringing it back.

Sen. Joe Manchin on Sunday said he would re-introduce a measure that would require criminal and mental health background checks for gun buyers at shows and online. The West Virginia Democrat says that if lawmakers read the bill, they will support it.

Manchin sponsored a previous version of the measure with Republican Sen. Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania. It failed.

Manchin says there was confusion over what was in the bill.

only vote for it if he needed it - as in, if he had 59 votes, she'd be willing to be the 60th. But not in any other case.

Sorry, heidi, but that's not good enough.

We all have to continue to lean on them - HARD. Face it: they are counting on the uproar to die down. They're fully expecting that enough people will...
- get discouraged and give up
- get distracted when other stuff starts happening and give up
- or the press gives up - SO "old-news" and besides, there's too much else going on
- and if the press gives up, people forget - because they have to be reminded, like eight-year-olds, in order to keep thinking about it
- people get bored and give up (there WILL be people deciding they're tired of seeing these whiny parents always whoring for media attention. "Sheesh, enough already. Get over it and move on." Just you wait. Time passes and does strange things.)
- and you'll see fewer ads for gun controls because donation money will dry up, especially if it's deemed as "not a hot issue anymore,"
meanwhile the NRA finds the field clearing nicely of all those annoying objections and moralists and whiners.
...and it spirals downward from there.

They think the heat's going to turn down on this issue and finally just go away. They think they can wait this out.

Brothers and Sisters, THEY'RE COUNTING ON THIS.

We have to prove them wrong. Defy their logic!

I think we will have to flood their offices with calls to vote yes this time. I doubt Crazy Cruz will read this bill either but maybe we can tell him in our phone calls what it says. We don't want criminals, terrorists or those mentally incapable of properly using weapons the opportunity to purchase them. For those who do nit want a national gun register needs to push this bill. The only nuts who says "they gonna come and take your guns" are misinformed by groups like NRA. They need to stop listening to this insanity.

It's an "accountability campaign," that does nothing more than make sure people know how their Senator voted. It's pretty damning stuff in places like Kentucky and New Hampshire, where big majorities favored the bill and McConnell and Ayotte both voted "no."

The NRA is loving this mass manipulation.

Anything for the gun and the bullet.

See folks? Nothing but a complete reinterpretation of the 2nd, however, 2013 is not the time as the court isn't here.
If THIS court reinterprets, then it will never happen in our lifetime.

it has to wait til the court switches to 6 to 3 democratic

and most don't even realize that.
The NRA needs to be stopped. it's beyond funny.

40. Michael Mike Bloomberg needs to get on this right away.
Mon Apr 29, 2013, 03:54 AM

Poison pillpens are like the bullet that the fame seeking killer of John Lennon attain

they twist and turn in many ways, and the intent is to destroy everything in its path by doing just that like a triple edge sword.

Much like the bullet that killed the kind, meek Dr. Tiller by yet another in a long line of people with guns and bullets who were rightwing extremists taking out anything the rightwing don't like.

Most people only see things that are right in front of them.

Poison penpills see things from all angles and blow them up sky high.

A rightwingers dream would be to stop Gay marriage, any control on guns and Abortions all in one shot.

There has never in American history been anything as dangerous as this amendment.

And I would venture a guess that 99% of America does not even realize it.
The ones that want this are the 1% of America. The NRA.

57 people voted for it though 60 was needed.
People now will be so desperate to get anything, that they will rush to do it, and this amendment will sneak in.

The only thing that could save the nation would be a surprise verdict by this supreme court
Much like the Health Care bill was saved only by John Roberts.
But it is doubtful.

It needs a brand new court to decide it.

One thing is good though-the court is through for 2013. So it would be June 2014 at the earliest, and that give much time for Mayor Bloomberg the great equalizer to mobilize the forces.
Because this single bill can do away with Gay Marriage, Abortions and any form of Gun control ever in the USA if the poisonpillpen passes.

I am thinking if this thing passes, what might end up being a wise move would be for
President Clinton in 2017 to name Mike Bloomberg as Homeland Security director.
And make guns the major focus of the next 8 years after.

as they say, be careful what one wishes.

NRA folks want to sleight of hand things through.

Personally, I think any gun laws should now wait for a better court, so there are no tricks.

It's funny how eager the NRA folks are to get this rushed through.

Some dumb ass with a machine gun has been killing cattle in East Texas near where a bunch of my relatives live. A real battlefield machine gun. At night too. One wonders if they are working their way up the food chain.

Eventually a bunch of these hotheads are going to turn their guns on each other at some NRA convention. In the meantime, the rest of us would like to practice our right to sit at home in peace, without the fear of errant bullets killing us in bed. Or tank rounds. That's right, some brain-damaged lead huffers down here are still demanding their "right" to own and bear tanks. Sounds like bad strategy against someone with a kitchen sink nuke. Nevertheless, these pussies in Congress are liable to give them the right because they are scared to death of the kooks they enabled in the first place.

There is simply no way to shame the majority of Congress into doing the right thing. The unarmed majority of Americans will have to designate days to gather and shutdown state and federal legislatures, and the streets of neighborhoods where the cowards live.

Lord help us.
