UK’s Military Chief Warns Intervention In Syria Risks All-Out War

The head of the British Armed Forces told his government that the United Kingdom should be prepared to go to war in Syria, according to a report in The Sunday Times.

Gen. Sir David Richards, chief of the defense staff, warned that a military response to Syria’s alleged use of chemical weapons would have to be on a full scale to be effective. He further cautioned that even creating safe zones would risk dragging UK forces into a military confrontation.

The general also argued that imposing a no-fly zone like the one in Bosnia in 1993 would not be effective because of Syria’s air defense.

“Even to set up a humanitarian safe area would be a major military operation without the co-operation of the Syrians,” he told senior defense figures, according to the report.

For countries who are cutting (austerity) they don't waste much time finding the money for war. Does Britain have drones?

a long time ago. They have plenty money, it just depends on what they want to spend it on. The money is useless, but it is a way to control resources. That is what has value. The control of resources gives you power over others. They are also dictating which laws to carry out. Think about this now. Austerity to them means cutting social programs for the poor and enriching a few people. The Justice system is not fair when you are wealthy.Who in the United States are pressuring the U.S. to War. If you think these people want to go to War so they can defend the poor, then you have not been paying attention. Does anybody think the Republican side of Congress want to intervene in Syria to defend the rights of the poor or Arabs? They are more interested in whatever region they can control. It is no difference than what they accuse Assad of. The poor has no voice. One of the things people on the right or conservatives hate most is wealth distribution. So when I hear these people talking about human rights, it goes in one ear and out the other. You are going to need to bomb the people that are in control. That includes killing innocent people. The only thing it will benefit are the people in control of resources carrying out the aggression. It will benefit corporations and any other enterprise that will gain control of resources.

The Syrians fighting against each other are all Muslims. The Governments choosing sides are mainly Christian. The side they claim that they are jumping in for this time are mostly Sunnis and Kurds. In Iraq, it was Shiites and Kurds. They are taking advantage of these peoples' religious differences. The Right in this country does not give a dam about the human rights of Muslims. They are using it as a cover. Whenever Israel bomb rock throwing Palestinians or Arabs with crude weapons, all you hear is they are the Terrorists and Israel has a right to self defense. You hear about the deaths of Israeli children or settlers but you hear less from Congress or Western media about the deaths of Palestinian children and innocent bystanders after a bombing campaign by Israel's Air Force or military intrusions with Western Technology. It is the money these countries use to build their military might versus social programs for the Poor. These attacks are also used as pretenses for defending Britain or the United States. I find that absurd given the military might of both nations. And they use the U.N. as a tool to justify carrying out these attacks. What I find disingenuous is the nuclear issue. Can the United States and British delegations stand on the floor of the U.N. and testify, that Israel does not have nuclear weapons, which is the very same issue they want to attack Iran for?

"This is not Libya," said Nancy Pelosi, the senior Democrat in the House of Representatives, referring to the relative ease with which a NATO bombing campaign helped overthrow Muammar Gaddafi in 2011. "The Syrians have anti-aircraft capability that makes going in there much more challenging."

The LBN's rules are very strict about such things and it might have got your OP locked.

There really was no need to be so rude and nasty about it.
