Graham: Without Intervention In Syria, Region Will ‘Fall Into Chaos’
Source: TPM
PEMA LEVY 10:55 AM EDT, SUNDAY APRIL 28, 2013
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said Sunday that without intervention in the Syrian civil war, the entire region will "fall into chaos" by the end of the year.
Appearing on CBS' "Face the Nation," Graham called for neutralizing the Assad regime's air power by bombing Syrian air bases with cruise missels, a step he said could "turn the tide" without putting boots on the ground.
Without international action by the end of the year, "the whole region's gonna fall into chaos," he said.

Guess Lindsey hasn't heard the news; Libya's all ready in chaos.

Insurgents launched what appeared to be a highly coordinated string of attacks across Iraq on Monday morning, killing at least 36 and wounding more than 200, according to officials.

(14,656 posts)the arguments for going into Syria...no fly zone, taking out
arsenals, and maybe, just maybe, according to McCaskill
troops on the ground. She ramped it up stating that not to
do something Iran will look at that as weakness on the U.S.
part; she added that Iran and Hezbollah "are busy" here (Syria).
Bob Scheiffer did point out the deja vu sound of chemicals of
mass destruction....oh, but they're certain...one defecting general
had told them so although they didn't know where the order to use
such came from. It's a mess and sounds ominous to me. imho

(14,656 posts)discussed in this segment. McCaskill is a member of the
Armed Services Committee so she was throwing in her
"expertise". They also said that by the U.S. becoming
involved neighbors of Syria could then help and I took
that to mean troops on the ground! The whole area will
be an even bigger disaster. imho

(2,730 posts)are she referring to, Turkey, Israel, Saudi Arabia or Jordan? Hezbullah has been engaged with Syria over decades. Iran and Syria both supply them with weapons. I've also read information, North Korea has ties to training Hezbullah. So it is disingenuous to say they might, when they are allies. This is nothing but misinformation to the American Public. If the U.S. enter Syria, it is a prelude to a bigger War in the region, which is exactly what the neocons envisioned. The dominoes will fall because the Russians will get involved and maybe others.
I've seen articles where certain nations opposing the U.S. and Israel are planning for a possible U.S.\Israeli invasion for a wider War in the region, which would tip off a World War show down. And the article I read does indicate why North Korea is also preparing. This same article suggests the U.S. wants a War and can't help themselves because of the belief, they cannot be beaten. This article suggests, those countries believe that will be the U.S. flaw. It suggests they are being sucked into a quad mire just like Vietnam and the Soviet Union in Afghanistan.
This article suggested these countries believe the U.S. is spending enormous amounts of resources on continuous Wars while ignoring domestic Policies. It suggests these countries have been building up their militaries for years in response to U.S. aggression, and in particular to what happened in Iraq. It suggests that the Iranian military and intelligence forces were countering for such a U.S. aggression and why they did not object to the invasion of Iraq and their enemy Saddam. They saw this as helpful to them while they built up their own forces, including their military industrial complex. They have been forming their own secret alliances, including trading secrets with the North koreans on missile capability and nuclear capacity. The article also suggested, the North Koreans have also been training Terrorist groups in Africa. So Syria, Iran and North Korea see these Terrorists group as paramilitary groups, that will perform operations in case of a future War with the U.S. I would not exclude contacts with the Taliban also. So regardless of what McCain, Graham and McCaskill think, the other side maybe planning also and preparing. I don't know if our Intelligence services have any knowledge of this article, but I think it is information worth considering. Another thing that needs to be seriously considered, is arming these opposition groups. It may come back to bite us.
Now you have a British General claiming entering Syria would pose a bigger War. Lets not forget Syria does have their backers particularly in Russia and China. I would not rust either, because they would probably love to see the U.S. fail. Those idiots in Congress maybe getting us into something, that we may regret. Israel also wanted us to attack Iraq. A serious question that needs to be answered here, if it comes down to a wider War with Iran, does the U.S. Government really trust the installed Government in Iraq, to not enter on the side of Iran? The American Public needs to be better informed period than by a media and Congress, which gave us the past Wars. That letter addressed to Bush by the soldier who served in Iraq, should have been in the media and printed nationwide. It should have also included the Congress and the U.S. media.

An FYI and Reminder...Wikipedia:
"Military service
Graham joined the United States Air Force in 1982, and served on active duty until 1988. Following his departure he stayed in the military, joining the South Carolina Air National Guard[2] and the U.S. Air Force Reserve. During the Gulf War, he was recalled to active duty, serving as a Judge Advocate at McEntire Air National Guard Station in Eastover, South Carolina, where he helped brief departing pilots on the laws of war.[3] He later transferred from the Air National Guard to the Air Force Reserve.
In 1998, according to the Congressional daily newspaper The Hill, Graham was describing himself on his website as an Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm veteran. In reality, he never left South Carolina. Graham responded "I have not told anybody I'm a combatant," he said. "I'm not a war hero, and never said I was. I never intended to lie. If I have lied about my military record, I'm not fit to serve in Congress," further noting that he "never deployed."[4]
In 2004, Graham received a promotion to Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve at a White House ceremony officiated by President George W. Bush.
Graham served in Iraq as a reservist on active duty for short periods during April and two weeks in August 2007, where he worked on detainee and rule-of-law issues.[5] He also served in Afghanistan during the August 2009 Senate recess.[6]
Through 2010, Graham served as a senior instructor for the Judge Advocate General's Corps, U.S. Air Force.[7]"
