Parents Say Boston Bombing Suspects Are Innocent

Source: NYT

MAKHACHKALA, Russia — The parents of the two brothers accused in the bomb attack that killed three people and wounded more than 260 near the finish line of the Boston Marathon insisted on Thursday that their sons were innocent and had no connection to radical Islam.

In an outpouring of anguish and anger at a news conference here in the capital of Dagestan, the brothers’ father, Anzor Tsarnaev, and mother, Zubeidat Tsarnaeva, also made accusations of a conspiracy in which the American authorities murdered their older son, Tamerlan, after seizing him.

Officials in the United States have said that Tamerlan was shot during a wild standoff with the police and was run over by a car driven by his younger brother as he escaped from the scene. The younger brother, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, was captured and has been charged with using a weapon of mass destruction. He is recovering in a Boston hospital and may face the death penalty if convicted. Officials have also released video showing the brothers near the site of the marathon bombing.

Despite this evidence, and after two days of questioning by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation here, Ms. Tsarnaeva said she would not accept that her sons were guilty.

She exhibits no sense of empathy, the first and foremost sign of a sociopath.

That, and the charges against her for shoplifting in Mass.

What mature mother of four mature children resorts to shoplifting? Shoplifting is generally a crime of young adults or of seriously psycholgically imbalanced or of desperate individuals. Shoplifting in an upscale women's clothing store in the Boston area, (as opposed to taking jeans or shorts or underwear at Walmart or soup in a grocery store), that's some pretty serious psychopathy for a woman well over 40.

How do you "exhibit" a "sense" of empathy?

What this really means is that YOU didn't see her crying or looking anguished over the victims, or YOU didn't hear her laments. Maybe she's a shy person. Maybe she's torn to bits by the fates of her sons and can't think of anything else at the moment.

And what does shoplifting have to do with empathy? Absolutely nothing.

You are making a case for her being a "sociopath" with no evidence whatsoever. She didn't cry and carry on over the victims, like some hypocrites have--and, believe me, there have been more than a few hypocrites over the last few weeks crying and carrying on and feeling nothing. She maybe has no agony room left in her soul with one dead son and the other already on death row according to some, and being at the center of this horrible, horrible media circus--horrible not because of photos of the carnage--that is just reality--horrible because it's a CIRCUS!

Please reserve your speculation about people to those with high-powered P.R. firms who tell them when to cry on cue, and those whom we know actually committed crimes--torture, bombings of innocents, massive thievery and are running around free. You're ragging on a MOTHER who was half a world away, and practically convicting HER of committing atrocities by calling her a "sociopath"?!

THAT is the kind of "circus" I'm talking about. What you just posted.

I don't find it surprising at all that a parent would be in denial that a child (yes, I know they are adults, but they are still the children of their parents) could do something so reprehensible, especially if it is counter to the way they were raised.

those circumstances alone, stitched together with the testimony of the living carjacked victim, the blood, the weapons on site of the arrest, and the 400-4000 other pieces of "evidence", video and other physical evidence, MOST LIKELY will lead to a result in a conviction which will incarcerate this suspect for dozens of years at the least, if not life without parole, or worse.

We are allowed to make reasonable predictions, as long as we respect that the wheels of justice will have to be played out in full and that there is about one chance in a million that he will not be convicted of something.

and then the taxpayers have to pay for her to be in prison for a few years for those charges, (shoplifting), and then we kick her out.

I think a wise judge would just refer her to deportation proceedings, and not hold a trial, and let her get her body out of the USA, and be denied further entry. Case closed.

She bailed out and didn't appear for her court date over the theft of clothes from an expensive store. IIRC, it was Lord & Taylors. So she's not here to be deported and can run her mouth as long as she wants in Russia. She and the father want Tamerlan shipped there to be buried. This isn't going to stop anytime soon.

It's just that I see so damned much of that nutball family on the TV, it feels like they're in my back yard. What do you think it would take for the press to just ignore her? Maybe a grown-up they used to call an "editor"?

These blithering idiots are not news, no matter how outrageous the crap that spews from their mouths. Their 'opinions' are completely worthless at this point, we know what sort of funny farm produced these bomber-losers.

I turned it off, only get the news from DU and links.

As far as editors or control, I think this is part of the reason cable or broadcast are going to continue to go dowhill. Partly because the media owners are all conservatives who will continue to monopolize it.

They're following the Rupert Murdoch model, non-stop sensationalism and appealing to basic instincts - sex and fear. As they continue to lose viewers to the easily tailored internet and people refuse to pay premiums for their overpriced talents like Dish TV did with Beck - I think it was found to be a few dollars a month charge on everyone to pay his huge salary, even those who didn't watch him - they'll go farther down the rabbit hole.

CT sells big. Infowars is pushing it as franchise opportunity for listeners to vend their products and make money off the themes. Gun and ammo (they don't sell them, but encourage it daily, so may be a kickback), survival goods, clothing, DVDs, bumper stickers, etc. It's just another of the GOP brands.

Now networks are going to keep pushing this tantalizing product. It keeps its viewers in a constant state of anxiety, so that they must come back daily, afraid to 'miss what's going to happen next.' Better than any of the old radio suspense theatres.

Television could have been used as it once was, for education. I am of the generation that could safely go home after school or work and enjoy programs like Carl Sagan's Cosmos and others that touched on science and were inspiring. Now it's low grade porn, torturous themes, making sociopathic behavior seem to be wise, thoughtless actions carried out for selfish ends and gratituous cruelty. And a lot of other things including the politically slanted ads even. I turned it off, too aggravating.

I used to say that she'd sat the table for Satan himself and serve him an extra slice of pie ... who knows? ... I watched it and didn't get it at all ... but she died that way ... Maybe those raised in deeply paternal societies are so brainwashed the lights are on and there's nobody home ...

I'd wager both those sons played their mother like a violin and she sent them money ... cause neither one of them were employed ...

as a teacher did get a slight chuckle out of your comments because they are so true. I teach English in a foreign country and of course all of the student's parents believe their children are little angels. When you have to write progress reports it stings how much you have bite your tongue and lie (or stretch the truth). Jimmy is hyperactive and won't sit still translates to "Jimmy is energetic and always participates". Oh dear
