House Oversight Committee To Resume Benghazi Hearings Next Month

Source: TPM

TOM KLUDT 11:28 AM EDT, WEDNESDAY APRIL 24, 2013

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) announced Wednesday that the panel will resume hearings next month on the September terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya.

The hearings will focus on "information turned over to the committee by administration whistleblowers on the Benghazi terrorist attacks," according to the press release.

“Next month, the Oversight Committee will convene a hearing on the Benghazi terrorist attacks to examine evidence that Obama Administration officials have attempted to suppress information about errors and reckless misjudgments,” Issa said in the release. “The American people still don’t have the full truth about what happened both before and after the murders of four brave Americans."

A date has not been determined for the hearings. Read the full announcement here.

Schools need money, roads are falling apart, people are getting killed by madmen with guns, lots of people still need health care, and on and on. But we gotta get to the bottom of this Benghazi (non) business.

on the country's actual problems? Are they beyond all accountability when it comes to whether they are performing their jobs or not? Do we have no recourse when they blow our money on charades like the Benghazi timeline?

10. Indeed. If they spent less time on Benghazi and repealing Obamacare for the 40th time,

they might have some time to actually focus on JOBS, JOBS, JOBS. Of course, they still wouldn't actually care about jobs unless they can magically be created by austerity economics and cutting taxes for the rich.

Amy Klobuchar was eventually joined by a few more Dems, but that's it. I guess setting up those Benghazi hearings was consuming all the Republicans.

Lawmaker Unemployment Hearing Attended By Single Member of Congress At Opening

More than five years since the start of the Great Recession, unemployment remains a major economic problem in the United States, with long-term unemployment among its most stubborn aspects.

Nobody told Congress.

A hearing Thursday on long-term unemployment held before the 19-member Joint Economic Committee began with just a single lawmaker in attendance. Panelists testifying on the problem and its potential solutions spoke only to Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), the committee's vice-chair, for the first half-hour of the roughly 90-minute session.

The all-but-complete absence of congressional interest was first documented by National Journal reporter Niraj Chokshi, who tweeted a photo of the hearing. Shortly after the photo was posted, several other lawmakers did trickle in to participate. Sen. Christopher Murphy (D-Conn.) arrived eight minutes into the hearing. Once the hearing had been under way for 35 minutes, Rep. John Delaney (D-Md.) was also in attendance, according to Chokshi. Eventually Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) also joined, bringing the crowd to four.

Is there anyway the Democrats can derail these ass-clowns?

(And would they if there was?)
