Raped Delhi girl 'recovering' slowly, say doctors

The condition of the five-year-old girl, who was allegedly kidnapped and raped in the Indian capital, Delhi, is "gradually recovering," doctors treating her say.

The girl has started taking liquids and semi-solid food and her wounds have begun to heal, they say.

Two men have been held from Bihar state in connection with the incident.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has called the assault an example of "depraved behaviour".

I honestly can't understand how she's going to live the rest of her life with her innocence stolen from her at this age. Really. "Recovering slowly" seems to mean...forever?

No one can take that away from her. She is only the victim of a horrific crime. I just hope that, in their justice system, she will not be made to testify.

I believe very strongly each day will be a struggle for this child. Your words were well chosen and no matter the language spoken others around the world feel the same and send healing thoughts her way as well as for her family.
