Authorities: 5 people buried in Colorado avalanche

CNN) -- Five people were buried in an avalanche Saturday on a mountain pass in Colorado's White River National Forest, about 50 miles west of Denver, sheriff's officials said.
Search and rescue teams were trying to find those buried in the snow at Loveland Pass, which has an elevation of nearly 12,000 feet, the Clear Creak County Sheriff's Office told CNN.
It was not known whether the five caught in the avalanche were alive, the sheriff's office said.
