KANSAS CITY, Kan. Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback signed into law yesterday a far-reaching anti-abortion bill that increases restrictions on the procedure and defines life as beginning at fertilization.
The bill, passed overwhelmingly by the Republican-controlled state House and Senate this month, becomes one of the most-restrictive laws in the country, according to abortion-rights advocates.
The bill bars employees of abortion clinics from providing sex education in schools, blocks tax credits for abortion services and requires clinics to give details to women about fetal development and the health risks of abortion. It also bans abortions based solely on the gender of the fetus.
The Kansas bill follows passage of anti-abortion measures in states across the country, including one in Arkansas banning abortions starting in the 12th week of pregnancy and one in North Dakota that sets the limit at six weeks.

(6,960 posts)Looks like a whole bunch of 1st Amendment and 4th Amendment violations in this new law in Kansas.
And ... new Supreme Court appointments that will end forever the right-wing's 'hope' that Rove v. Wade will be overturned someday.
We need the U.S. Senate, therefore, to change the filibuster rule ... oh, Harry Reid blocked that last January.
