200 rounds: Details of firefight emerge as manhunt focuses on one suspect
Source: NBC
he Boston Marathon bombing suspect was on the run Friday evening as officials said he and his brother exchanged 200 rounds with police during a stunning firefight early in the morning and left seven homemade explosives behind.
More than 18 hours after a bloody rampage that started with the slaying of a cop and ended with the death of one suspect, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev continued to elude a massive manhunt and the city and surrounding suburbs remained on lockdown.
Anxiety was rising as SWAT teams and troops hunted door to door for the fugitive and for more bombs with more than a million people warned to hunker down behind locked doors. Police said Tsarnaev is the sole suspect in the investigation.
Tsarnaev, 19, remained on the lam nearly 20 hours after he and brother, Tamerlan, 26, made a desperate effort to flee the city following the FBI's release of their photos Thursday evening.

(53,661 posts)It's likely he's on foot or stolen another vehicle. I haven't heard what happened to the house on Dexter they had the spotlights on. Thought for sure he was in there and it would be over.
Live tv also says they were NOT part of a robbery last night. They did get money from the person who they highjacked and stole their vehicle, making the driver go to an ATM and give them $800. Although the stories keep on changing, local tv is doing a good job of correcting whatever mistakes they've made.
It's going to be very hard to find anyone with so many people in that area. Very hard on the residents there, sheltering in place and told not to open their doors unless a uniformed officer with identification is there.
Not that much difference than some natural disasters, but I am glad that I am not there. We do have some DUers in the area and one said it is hard to sleep as it's very tense.

Reporters claim that they heard that was blood in a boat in a back yard, and rushed to the scene.

(16,199 posts)Normal load out of a police pistol is 15 rounds. I'm surprised the total is so low. If NYC police could fire 64 rounds as a man holding his wallet, surely BPD could fire more at a terrorist.
