Appeals Court Turns Down Lawsuits Challenging Mexican Trucks In US

Source: Associated Press

WASHINGTON - A federal appeals court has turned down lawsuits by two groups seeking to block a pilot program allowing Mexican trucks to operate throughout the U.S.

The three-judge panel Friday denied challenges by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association.

Among other things, the groups had challenged the program on safety, environmental and medical fitness grounds. The court said it found none to be persuasive.

...the trucking companies who have to comply with US pollution and safety regulations which the Mexican truckers don't. I doubt the Mexican truckers are unionized, either. So now the the American trucking companies will argue that they can't compete with the Mexican truckers because of the 'unfair' American regulations and union wages and benefits.

No Mexican truck or driver will get across the border unless they are 100% in compliance with American laws. The same arguments were used against the Canadian industry until they realized that the equipment and operators were a 'step up from the locals'.

And of course, here in Canada we were notably not wrong to assume that the same fears would be realized if we let American trucks into Canada.

labor, could take the consequences of the anti-worker "no secondary boycotts" law and engage in same, they just might be able to swing the tide in their favor. It's that, or similar, or continue bleeding a not-so-slow death. You know Arizona is not going to work to exclude Mexican trucks because they don't meet pollution standards or load limits.

Trailers carry CA.plates and no tags on the tractors. What gives, something is up. These so called drivers are a threat to everyone. Been around the trucking industry my whole life, you can spot these junkers running balongia skins for tires, clearance lights out or bad head lights. BTW,running I-15 after the scales are closed. Duh!!!!
