Musharraf on the run after bail cancellation

DAWN.COM | 39 mins ago

ISLAMABAD: General (retd) Pervez Musharraf on Thursday escaped from the premises of the Islamabad High Court after the cancellation of his bail application by Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui in the judges detention case.
Immediately after the bail cancellation, police tried to reach the former military ruler but he was escorted by his personal security, fleeing in his bullet-proof black four-wheeler.

Musharraf had arrived at the IHC for the hearing and a large contingent of police and Rangers personnel was stationed at the court’s premises for security purposes.

Earlier last week, the former military ruler was granted a six-day interim bail after he surrendered before the court in the judges’ detention case in which he had been declared a proclaimed offender.

He had asked the police to initiate legal proceedings against Musharraf for detaining over 60 judges, including Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, after proclamation of a state of emergency in the country on November 3, 2007.

...as well as the leader of another party. He enjoyed the US Government's endorsement until the absolute last moment, when the stink was to high heaven.

But hey, it's ok to trust what they are doing out in the Pakistani countryside.

EDIT - meant to reply to OP.

Ask JFK. Ask Jimmy Carter.

That is why the Saudi Facist dynasty still enjoys support under our current government. The Egyptian regime enjoyed our government's support until the absolute last moment when it was clear it would be impossible to prop them up.

how the once migthy has now fallen. He use to have others on the run. You think he will seek political asylum somewhere? I imagine he does have some secrets about Pakistan's military apparatus. It wouldn't surprise me if some intelligence service does provide it to him.

There are links to Pakistan's military apparatus (and their funding) that are
still outstanding from a certain incident in 2001 ... some people in the US would
work very hard to ensure they remained "secrets" (one way or the other).
