BREAKING NEWS: Letter addressed to Obama has tested POSITIVE for deadly poison ricin - one day after

Source: Daily Mail

A letter addressed to President Barack Obama has tested positive for carrying traces of the deadly poison ricin, it was revealed today, making it the third possible poison-laced letter intended for high-ranking members of the U.S. government.

The Secret Service said that the letter, which was intercepted at a mail screening facility in Maryland on Tuesday, contained a 'suspicious substance.' Ricin is derived from castor beans and can be fatal when ingested.

This perp knows it will be tested and intercepted by the Feds. The perp is just trying to show the world he has ricin and is not afraid to use it. Great.

A letter addressed to President Barack Obama has tested positive for the poison ricin in preliminary tests, the White House confirmed Wednesday. That news comes a day after another, related letter to a U.S. senator tested positive for the poison.

The Secret Service "immediately quarantined" the letter to the president at an off-site mail sorting facility, according to an FBI press release Wednesday.

On Tuesday, a letter addressed to U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., tested positive for ricin. The letter was reportedly postmarked in Memphis with no return address. According to a Capital Police spokesperson, it contained a "white granular substance," AP reported yesterday. Mail service for the Senate was shut down in response to that letter.

There are also currently investigations into suspicious envelopes at the offices of Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., and at the home offices of Sens. Carl Levin, D-Mich., and Jeff Flake, R-Ariz.
