Harry Reid To Vote For Assault Weapons Ban

Source: TPM

TOM KLUDT 10:00 AM EDT, WEDNESDAY APRIL 17, 2013

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) on Wednesday announced over Twitter that he will vote in favor of an amendment to reinstate the federal ban on assault weapons.

Senator Harry Reid ✔ @SenatorReid

I will vote for assault weapons ban because maintaining law and order and saving lives is more important than preventing imagined tyranny.

He's been trying to kill this since it started. It makes no difference if he adds the assault weapons or not because he knows the whole bill will fail, that's why he's bringing it to the floor now.

And Flake lived up to his name...his excuse for not voting for it is really flaky, it's really a stretch.

I don't understand the 3d chess, of not supporting it early on, but claiming to support it later. I believe his belated support for it will be just as damaging to him politically, why would he do that? If the bill is dead what purpose does this serve?
