Associated Press

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A lawyer say ex-South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford trespassed at his ex-wife's home and he has been ordered to appear in court two days after his special congressional election.

Documents acquired by The Associated Press Tuesday say Jenny Sanford confronted her ex-husband leaving her South Carolina home on Feb. 3. Her attorney filed a complaint the next day and she confirms the documents are authentic.

In them, she says he was using his cellphone as a flashlight as he left.

The couple's divorce settlement says neither may enter the other's home without permission

Judge? Better to have the 'candidate' explain his actions in court - UNDER OATH - 2 days before the election and not giving Sanford a month to spin the 'reasons' why he was trespassing. Sanford seems to think he can explain his way out of any transgression he commits. Ethics violations. Poof. Not a big deal. Hiking the Appalachian Trail while commiting adultery and who knows what else? Forgiven by God, so no problem. A little jail time would be in order, but that is not going to happen. If this malfeasance in office specialist is elected, a few in the House of Representatives will ask for ouster but to no avail. It will come to nothing, and even if it did, the majority in the house won't let it come to a vote - to which they will say 'don't worry, Sanford, we've got your back'. And so it goes.

And their divorce settlement stated that he couldn't be in her house without permission (and vice versa). Class has nothing to do with it, if someone is sneaking around in your house, you have every right to file a complaint. There have been cases where people have been stalked by their exes, so I'm sure it was a scary situation for her.

Mark Sanford acknowledged in a statement Wednesday that he visited his wife’s beach house without her permission to watch the Super Bowl with their son. But Jenny Sanford, in her complaint, said it was part of a “pattern of entering” her home.
Meanwhile, the Washington Post has learned that tensions within the family flared up as recently as April 2, at the celebration of Sanford’s runoff election victory when the former governor thrust two of his sons on-stage with the Argentine woman who was at the center of the spectacular sex scandal that broke up his marriage.

Well, la-de-da.
He is the father of four boys.
He had no right to put himself in the position of falling "in love with someone else."
His duty is and remains to raise his sons into decent men, and he's not giving them the example they deserve.
Jenny is classy in that she is raising those boys without a father, not an easy job, and will become more difficult when they are teenagers and nearing college age.

Mark Sanford not only cheated on Jenny, he cheated his four sons out of a decent father.

So much for being a responsible father of 4 sons...
So much for being a public servant... he literally disappeared; the Lt Gov, the State police, no one know where he was or how to contact him in the event of a state emergency. That is dereliction of duty!

It was horrible to see his press conference knowing how devastating it must have been for Jenny and OMG ... their 4 boys, at least one of whom was a teenager at the time while the others, though younger, were still old enough to understand what was going on. Imagine, the ridicule at school.

Being cheated on in a long term marriage is a pain I wouldn't wish on anyone, but compounding that hurt with public humiliation (e.g. his soul mate declarations and the State newspaper's exposure if his titillating emails to the other woman) is a wound as awful as any physical one.

Sanford was, and is, an ass who deserves to be in the dustbin of history. And Milt the Stilt's attitude is beyond cavalier.

I'm a criminal defense attorney. People who enter other people's property when they aren't supposed to tend to be squirrely fucks who get up to all sorts of crap they should not....once they violate the boundary of property, they tend to do a whole lot more violations. If you think Mr. Sandford wasn't going through her personal stuff I have a bridge to sell you.

If he wishes to 'be with his son' he can abide by the court agreement. But this dumbass strikes me as a self-entitled, privileged dude who thinks rules simply do not apply to him.

Sounds like his dad decided his 14 year old son WOULD spend time with him, regardless of the court order. I don't know a whole hell of a lot of teens who want to hang around with their dad.

Furthermore, your own post indicates he's done it before. If the kids had had enough of Dad's unscheduled visits, its quite plausible Jenny Sanford finally drew the line. Your assumption that the kids were okay with this isn't indicated anywhere. What is clear is he was breaking a court order.

Clearly Mark Sanford doesn't believe the rules and the law apply to him - obvious by his past behavior.

If I were Jenny Sanford, I would have hauled his ass into court the FIRST time he trespassed, not given him several chances to finally do the right thing and abide by the law.

There's no dispute that he's done it before. Clearly Jenny Sanford drew the line after numerous violations. I have no problem with that.

You are also assuming the 14 year old wanted his Dad there. Dad may have been forcing his presence on a kid (and most 14 year old teens DON'T want to hang around with their parent) and that's why Jenny Sanford finally said enough.

Regardless, he is willfully thumbing his nose at the court. Its all of a piece of his complete disregard for the "rules" and how they don't apply to him. If anyone is acting like a self-entitled rich prat, its him.

Mark Sanford is not the first person to have an affair and not the first person to break up a marriage because of it. At least he loved his mistress. Better than Bill who just used someone. He has no custody. Don't you think that is a little odd? Do you not think people use their kids as leverage? Of course they do. Do I know if Jenny uses her kids? Of course I don't but not to have joint custody is pretty ridiculous.

...(F)ormer South Carolina governor Mark Sanford (R) has lost the support of the...National Republican Congressional Committee...“Mark Sanford has proven he knows what it takes to win elections. At this time, the NRCC will not be engaged in this special election,” the NRCC said in a statement...

...(A)t the (April 2) celebration of Sanford’s runoff election victory...(he) thrust two of his sons onstage with...Maria Belen Chapur...the Argentine woman who was at the center of the spectacular sex scandal that broke up his marriage...For Sanford’s teenage son Bolton, that very public moment marked the first time he had ever been in (her) presence... (His) discomfort is evident in photos of the event...

When all is said and done, a politician's judgement is his only real stock-in-trade. Doesn't sound as though he's learned very much, does it?

Smart, and you THINK they understand the concept you are driving home. With an Order of Protection, DO NOT CONTACT HER.
"But my kids are there. possibly alone. I miss them."
"And you will see them. Your rights are not being taken away. But under our state laws, you must get used to a schedule. Under Illinois Law this is a fair schedule."
"But they miss me too!"
"Sure, and when they are with you, they might miss mom."
"How can you say that?"
"Because every young kid wants to be peacemaker, and they tell both parents the same thing. Do NOT used them as a messenger."
"You are not doing your job. I wanted custody!Full Custody!"
"You want to fire me, go ahead. However, the court heard all the evidence. You work full time, 55+ hours a week, your ex was a stay at home mom, and your youngest has Leukemia, which she, as a RN, is treating appropriately. She spent tons of income to put you through medical school, STILL managed to get her RN with surgical and ICU ratings, and she still stayed to raise the kids. Why do you think you were entitled to full custody, after all that I have been telling you?"
"Never mind that. You didn't do what I demanded of you."
"Fine. Just stay away from her home, and be at the police station on Saturday for your kiddie pick up."
"NO. Fuck You. They are my kids, I am going to see them now."
"OK. Call me from prison, will you? I want to know how much your bond will be."
