NEW YORK (AP) — The Chinese Consulate in New York says a Chinese national is the third person killed in the Boston marathon blasts.

An official at the consulate's press section, who was not authorized to give his name, said that one Chinese student was injured and another died in the blast.

The official said a work group from the consulate was in Boston to investigate the situation and assist relatives of the victims.

The official Chinese news agency Xinhua reported that relatives have requested that the deceased not be identified.

Maybe for a few days...not longer.

My family never even put an obituary of my 95 yr old grandmother in the newspaper when she died and she had been an elementary teacher for half her life and was a good addition to her community.

Most people live their lives in a community surrounded by ohers who have made an investment (emotional, financial, physical) in their lives and would like to honor them when they die. The Boston University community will not be able to grieve for this grad student.

Anyway, R.I.P to unknown male Chinese foreign national grad student from Boston University.

He's studying abroad and experiencing one of the most exciting events Boston has to offer, and he loses his life. Poor man.

A female Chinese citizen was among at least 140 people injured by explosions at the Boston Marathon on Monday afternoon, China’s state newswire Xinhua reported amid an outpouring of sympathy from the country’s internet users, writes Jonathan Kaiman in Beijing.

The Chinese victim - Zhou Danling, a student at Boston University - is comatose and receiving treatment at a local hospital, according to the report. She graduated from Wuhan University in central China and is reading a graduate degree in actuarial science, according to an article on the popular news portal Sina.com.

At least 85 people from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan participated in the race, none of them professional runners.

She was also a grad student at Boston University. This may be a different victim who is still alive.

There were apparently very many international runners and spectators at the marathon.

Poor girl. I feel so sorry for her family. Apparently she was an only child.
