UPDATED: Reports: Wounded Saudi Man Not A Suspect In Boston Bombings

Source: TPM

TOM KLUDT 2:51 PM EDT, TUESDAY APRIL 16, 2013

The Saudi Arabian man who has been investigated in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombings is not a suspect, according to multiple reports Tuesday.

The man had been questioned in a Boston hospital while recovering from injuries sustained in Monday's blasts, and his Revere, Mass. apartment was searched by state and federal law enforcement officials. But one of his roommates adamantly insisted that the man, who is in his 20s and studying in the Boston area, was not involved in the deadly bombings.

On Tuesday, that was confirmed by federal officials, according to a report published in the Washington Post and detailed during a broadcast on CNN. The man, who has not yet been identified, has been questioned only as a witness.

According to the Post, officials said that he was one of two Saudis injured in the explosions.

Feinstein: Saudi National ‘Not A Suspect’ In Boston Bombings

SAHIL KAPUR 3:09 PM EDT, TUESDAY APRIL 16, 2013
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, told reporters Tuesday that the Saudi national reportedly questioned in relation to the Boston Marathon bombings is not a suspect.

"As far as I know, he is not a suspect. That's as far as I know," she said. "See this is the problem -- we really don't know. We know one thing. It qualifies, in my book, as a terrorist attack."

"I think it's sort of a forensic slog right now," Feinstein said, "of doing everything that needs to be done to secure what is a huge crime scene. Take down probably hundreds of security cameras, go through the film minute by minute, hour by hour and try to follow forensic evidence."

President Obama said earlier Tuesday that the FBI is investigating the bombings as a terrorist attack.

They forget the lesson of Richard Jewell, who they crucified in the Atlanta bombing. It later turned out that Jewell had saved people's lives by warning them and taking proper steps at the time.

The real bomber in the Atlanta case was an anti-abortion christian crusading murderer, Eric Rudolph, part of the Christian Identity movement.

assholes, out for their own personal revenge.

Not too long after the real bomber, a White Midwestern Christian Veteran, had been stopped for a traffic infraction and was sitting in a small-town jail on a weapons charge, not yet connected to the crime he had done earlier that morning.

Is that this Saudi was tackled by people in the area as he was attempting to leave. Not sure why people singled him out from others fleeing the area but speculate that he was profiled because he was Arab. This was always a pretty remote possibility because why would someone set off a bomb remotely while still so close as to be injured himself. Just because it wasn't this foreign national doesn't mean that it is not a foreign terrorist attack. There are aspects of this attack that point in the direction of both foreign and domestic terrorists so we don't know which type is adapting its targets and methods.

a civilian, police joined in shortly thereafter and, yes, he was profiled. No one is saying it wasn't a foreign national or an American. The only thing being stated is it wasn't this particular man that FOX and the Murdoch media have been pillorying since he was taken to the hospital.

8. I dunno; I'm worried. He's ethnically Arabic. That seems pretty suspicious to me.

On top of that, he was Arabic. Not just Arabic, but actually from Arabia, or maybe his parents are from there, whatever; a time of crisis is no time for splitting hairs, dammit. He was walking around, not just anywhere, but on the streets, as if he had something to do or look at there. Quite a coicidence that he, of all people, was there, being Arabic the whole time. And in Boston to boot! That's a little too much of a coincidence, if you ask me. Also, did I mention he was Arabic?

They pretty much crucified the kid in the media... and he was not only not involved, but was injured when those people tackled him. Can you imagine? You're wounded in a horrific blast, you're running for you life, and some yahoos throw you to the pavement? His roommate was interrogated for 5 hours, and was "scared" The right wing jerks are targeting that guy, and have his home address... Brilliant. The police were also questioning a female medical student, Saudi, who is in the hospital... but say she is also not involved. America pretends to be multi-cultural, but it's just a bunch of ignorant hicks. Wonder if they're profiling the Glenn Beck fans? Considering they just said that the one duffel bag was set down just feet from where Gov. Patrick was sitting minutes before on the official seating area.

People were at the marathon from around the world, police will interview everyone.

Really upsets me the right wing? media and blogs start reporting personal details on a college student, on top of that he is one of the injured.

I hope he sues everybody from the one who tackled him to the reporters who swarmed his home. And, I hope the president invites him to the White House to apologize on behalf of the country.

I really, really hate ALL rightwing fucks.
