Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood condemns Boston blasts

Source: AP/Salon

CAIRO (AP) — Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood has condemned the Boston Marathon bombings, saying that Islamic law, or Shariah, does not condone violence against civilians.

A Tuesday statement from the Islamist group’s political arm, the Freedom and Justice Party, expressed “condolences to the American people and to the families of victims, with hopes for a quick recovery of those injured.”

The party also says that Islamic law “firmly rejects assaults on civilians and doesn’t accept any means of terrorizing people, regardless of their religion, color, or gender.”

“The sinful assaults in Boston ascertain the necessity of solidarity of the international community in efforts to achieve justice and well-being for all nations and communities, and to ensure that these crimes don’t take place again,” the statement reads. Egypt’s President Mohammed Morsi hails from the Brotherhood.

My gut says it is some chicken$hit gun nut mad about his "God-given rights" to stockpile weapons in case he needs to shoot someone.

Still too early to say who or why, but it seems likely to be an individual or small group acting alone.

And no suspect -- or anything even hinted at -- as far as responsibility?

I, too, am beginning to think this is domestic terrorism, and they don't want to say anything about it.

Timothy McVeigh was a member of some groups, but when it came down to his actions, he alone was held responsible.

Have you also noticed, how all the global terrorist networks are steadily denying that they did it.

I think we'll probably hear from all manner of Muslim groups and political entities from all over the world expressing similar condolences and sentiments.

As for whether they're sincere is another matter, but ... it's a smart move for ALL of them to do so.

They've seen how the USA 'reacts' to things like this ...

On a side note, I wish Obama was this wise, politically, on a consistent basis.

You may want to keep in mind that they are supporters of Hamas in Palestine, and never seem to condemn Hamas terrorism whenever it does occur.....in fact, Hamas was originally an offshoot of MB......

I do hope we see some real condolences from decent Islamic organizations soon.....(I'm sure there will be at some point, but hopefully sooner, rather than later.)

he lived in the usa when he was a professor in california.

i`m sure the brotherhood has more problems keeping egypt together. i`d say bombing the boston marathon would`t even be considered.

I'm sorry, folks, but the MB has been an enemy of the West for YEARS. Do you really think they, especially it's wannabe Mussolini, Mohammed Morsi, truly mean what they say, or are they just trying to build up PR so the rest of the Islamic World(the vast majority of whom, I'm sure, are truly, genuinely horrified by what happened in Boston on Monday, TBPH.), holds off on rejecting them once and for all? In case you didn't notice, the Hamas group in Palestine, is very closely tied to the MB, but you never hear the MB condemning Hamas, do you? I didn't fucking think so, fellas.

My apologies for the cynicism, but I'd feel the same way if this had come from Kim Jong-Il, Gaddafi, Ahmadinejad.

"enemy of the West"? more like its greatest ally this side of the Wahhabi-Zionist axis. Hasan al-Banna must have been doing backflips in his grave for decades.

The Ikhwan's motives in denouncing this minor event are clear: they just want to hammer home the notion that they are loyal lapdogs, eager to please. This bombing is a fraction of the leftover carnage created by the invasion of Iraq on a regular basis, and is precisely 1/10th the amount of Afghans and Pakistanis that were murdered in CIA drone bombings LAST WEEK ALONE, but time must come to a screeching halt because a few Americans were inconvenienced.

You do know that two of those people on your list are dead, right? I'd feel pretty fucking different if they were to say something now, just for the novelty of the dead speaking... I do get your point, but I have a snark quota to fill and that was low-hanging fruit.
