Kerry: US, China pledge to work together on NKorea

Source: AP

BEIJING (AP) — U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry says the U.S. and China are pledging to work closely on the volatile situation in North Korea.

America’s top diplomat, who’s in Beijing for meetings with Chinese leaders, said he had in-depth discussions with officials on “the challenges” presented by the North.

China’s foreign policy chief, Yang Jiechi (yahng jay-uh-CHUR’), says his country is committed to working toward a nuclear-free Korean peninsula. He says China believes it’s best to try to resolve the situation “peacefully through dialogue” rather than confrontation. He says China will work with the U.S., Japan, South Korea and others “to play a constructive role” in building toward international talks on North Korea.

The diplomats spoke to reporters before having dinner Saturday night.

good but I think it is nefarious. Of course the Chinese Government sees it in their own interest to be the only state within the region to have nuclear weapons. It is equivalent to mafia bosses keeping control of their turf. One is communist and the other is a vulture capitalist. And neither will give up their own nuclear weapons so they can bully other states. If I was North Korea, I would continue to increase my nuclear capabilities to keep both in place. I think North Korea has a point by not trusting the Chinese or Russia for their own national security. I think they have clearly relayed that message to Beijing. And what is more nefarious, in order to have relations with the Communist Government in China, other nations must not recognize the Government in Taiwan. That includes the United States. Back room Deals are being made, including ignoring human rights in their own countries. And the biggest victims of it all, is the unification of Korea and self determination of the Korean people. They are only proxies. The whole scenario resembles the Mafia.

Wait them out until the sanctions strangle them--keep our forces increased in the region so they are less likely to try anything, watch them like hawks, and wait them out.
