Chinese capital Beijing reported on Saturday its first case of a new strain of bird flu, state news agency Xinhua said, the first time it has been found in a human outside of eastern China.
The seven-year-old child is in a stable condition in a Beijing hospital, the report said.
Two people who have had close contact with the child have shown no signs of being infected so far, Xinhua added.
A total of 11 people have died of the H7N9 bird flu strain since it was confirmed in humans for the first time last month, with 44 infections in all having been reported to date.

(11,464 posts)and then it is rush released to the world quickly.
Last I heard it would take 7 months for China to create a vaccine, then time for the rest of the world.
The world should together do this alot quicker and find a way to mass produce it, and then make it readily available for every single person.
Need to put a ring around it and pronto.
So far 1 out of 4 people have died, and with many still severely ill, that could go much higher.
Billions of people could die rapidly without a new vaccine if it becomes a panademic.

Ever since Tienanmen Square and the organ harvesting revelations, I have gotten the impression that the Chinese government views some of its citizens as "expendable".

The Chinese are quite sophisticated in containing new outbreaks and act quickly.
They are not as good at prevention which would involve large changes in lifestyles.

(3,746 posts)BEIJING (AFP) - China's H7N9 bird flu virus spread to a new province on Sunday, with state media reporting two human cases in central Henan just west of the area where the disease has been centred.
"Two new cases were reported in central China's Henan province on Sunday," the Xinhua state news agency said.
Until Saturday, when one case was reported in the capital of Beijing, all other instances had occurred in the eastern city of Shanghai and nearby Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Anhui provinces hundreds of miles (kilometres) away.
Altogether 51 people have been infected and 11 have died of the disease since Chinese authorities announced two weeks ago they had found H7N9 in humans for the first time.
