(18,652 posts)Yes, some was in her book but it seems that some was in her medical records, too, which are supposed to be private.

(10,260 posts)something tells me Mother Jones didn't do anything illegal in acquiring said recording.
But to decide that it's appropriate to sling that kind of mud at a possible opposition candidate, without a SHRED of proof, THAT strikes me as news, Mitch.
You slimy, hateful little fuck.

(11,464 posts)what Mitch has also done now-
is by going public with this and most likely setting up this who thing, he will make sure that future people like Ashley never run, not wanting to have secrets revealed.
This is politics and how the game is played, everywhere and always was, and always will be.
Which is why protesting how it is played doesn't get winning.
Getting a candidate seated is winning.
I love when people hate dirty politics while hating that those taken down from the dirty politics were taken down, but think nothing of wanting to find dirt on the other side.
reality states-
You gotta have one $$$ more than the other side
You gotta have one secret more than the other side
and as always, a winner does what a loser won't
Did you all think Mitch was a nice guy gonna play a gentleman's game and roll over?
(old cliche too is-
can't stand the heat? Get out of the kitchen.
what it does appear to indicate though is Ashley knew this would be happening, and she chose not to enter because of this.
Candidates need to weigh these things before floating that they will enter a race, and if they decide there is no way, then stop it very early on.
You gotta seize the day early and often.
It never will be a gentleman's game, and there never will be a dollar free campaign.
There never was, there never will be.
Politics was is and always will be dirty.

PS: Thanks for the heads-up, MinM! Nothing on NPR or the rest of Corporate McPravda about Mr. Rove's class.

(1,589 posts)first thing I thought. Nothing like a warning shot across the bow of a potential competitor. "warning, run against me and relive your mental health battles"
like he isnt a psycopath lunatic himself.

(6,853 posts)I thought political office-holders were not to use public assets to run their campaigns. So McConnell is admitting that he uses the taxpayer-funded office to run his political campaign?

(112,920 posts)early on, and this set up is so similar to some of his past tricks, like the Bush debate tapes sent to Gore's campaign office.
Rove - there is NO dirty trick low enough for that scum.

(21,925 posts)".....At one point, someone plays a recording of Judd describing her religious beliefs:
"I still choose the God of my understanding as the God of my childhood. I have to expand my God concept from time to time, and you know particularly I enjoy native faith practices, and have a very nature-based God concept. I'd like to think I'm like St. Francis in that way. Brother Donkey, Sister Bird."
One of McConnell's staffers can be heard laughing ... saying, "Brother Donkey, Sister Bird!"
Another staffer laughs and says, "The people at Southeast Christian [Church] would take to the streets with pitchforks." ....."
People who belong to a party that includes those who believe the Earth was created just 6,000 years ago and our ancestors rode on dinosaurs daring to laugh at the beliefs of others?

Ouch, its so funny it hurts!
