MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) A man who took hostages at a Hillary Rodham Clinton presidential campaign office in 2007 escaped from a minimum-security correctional facility on Sunday, authorities said.
Leeland Eisenberg was discovered missing during a head count Sunday afternoon at the Calumet Transitional Housing Unit in Manchester, state Department of Corrections spokesman Jeff Lyons said.
Eisenberg was sentenced in May 2010 to 3 ½ to 7 years for probation violations. The 52-year-old would have been eligible for parole in August.
Once he is found, he will be charged with escape, a felony punishable by 3 ½ to 7 years in prison, Lyons said. Eisenberg isnt considered armed.

(9,965 posts)The incident (trying to take hostages with road flares as "dynamite" at HRC/HQ was brought on by 3 days of drinkin' and thinkin', he's been in and out of trouble since, multiple mental health issues.

(6,045 posts)Try & go after Hillary. Hillary has full time security as a former First Lady, correct?

(9,965 posts)He had seen a news story or campaign ad about her getting medical help for someone, then the booze and the voices did the rest of the thinkin. Yes, Hillary has Secret Service protection. But this guy has been in and out of jail (mostly for drinkin' on parole) several times since 2007, has shown no inclination for pursuing her.

(30,244 posts)He had already served his time for the rapes, but he was out on parole when he took the hostages. I'm just surprised that someone who is so obviously in need of psychiatric help was not watched more closely. I just hope that he doesn't hurt anyone while he's on the lam.

At about 3 p.m. Sunday, a regular population count was conducted and the 52-year-old was not in his room. He was placed on walkway status, according to a prepared statement from the state prison officials.
Eisenberg took hostages in Clintons campaign office in Rochester, N.H. He entered the office with what appeared to be a bomb strapped to his chest.
Eisenberg is a white man, 5-foot-6, 220 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown hair. He was sentenced in Strafford County Superior Court to 3 1/2 to 7 years and began serving his sentence in the N.H. State Prison on May 6, 2010. Before Sundays incident, he was eligible for parole on Aug. 6. His maximum release date is Feb. 6, 2017.
