Egypt court dismisses case against popular TV satirist Bassem Youssef

Source: Haaretz

Court says Islamist lawyer who accused Youssef of 'ridiculing President Mohammed Morsi, and violating the principles of the society' lacks direct interest in case.

A Cairo court on Saturday dismissed a lawsuit seeking to have popular Egyptian satirist Bassem Youssef's TV show banned and the private satellite channel broadcasting it taken off the air.

The Administrative court said the plaintiff did not have standing to file the lawsuit because he lacked a direct interest in the case.

How can religions which claim truth over things be afraid of criticism?

This is how religions have always acted. They cannot take criticism, let alone satire. This is how people act when they think they have truth from god. And they have the hubris to label atheists as strident, militant, etc.

At least somebody in Egypt realizes that these shenanigans aren't serving anybody, and least of all religion.
