Poll: 13% think Obama is the anti-Christ; 29% believe in aliens

Source: USA Today

It's official: Americans love their conspiracy theories. Public Policy Polling asked voters to weigh in on 20 more infamous ones, and the results show that a not-insignificant number of people believe that President Obama is the anti-Christ (13%), Big Foot exists (14%), and the planet is secretly ruled by the New World Order (28%). Four percent think our societies are actually ruled by "lizard people."

Obama - Anti-Christ? Really?
They've been watching too many BIBLE episodes on the History Channel.

I'm part of the 28% that believe the New World Order secretly runs everything.

I suspect the universe is teeming with life. I am shocked that only 29% do.

There is 100% probability that, wherever in the universe life is possible, there will be life.

And can he be an alien if he's the antichrist? Or vice versa?

Also, if he's a terrorist Indonesian Muslim socialist, can he also be the antichrist and/or an alien?

Inquiring minds want to know?

And how do these people get through the day?

So personally I wouldn't lump people who believe in aliens in with people who believe that Obama is the anti-christ.

15. I have to disagree, for such a jump in logic violates the rules of statistics

Apr 2013

As of right now, we have the evidence of life on one planet (Earth). That may be the norm, it may be the exception, but ONE data point is NOT enough to prove ANYTHING. Life on earth MAY be a one time event. On the other hand, it may be more common then we now know. The problem is statistics depends on having a sizable pool of data points to go by, and right now all we have is one data point.

Thus it is perfectly defensible to say, life does NOT exist outside the Earth (or from contamination from the Earth). There was one test on the first test for life on Mars that indicated evidence of life, but the product could also be the product of non-life carbon (It was meant to confirm other tests for life NOT to be a primary test for life on Mars by itself). Furthermore we know of Rocks that are from Mars (knock off the Mars by some ancient Meteor, and then landed on earth) that also indicate such carbon forms (which may be caused by life, but also can be produce by carbon independent of life). If such rocks can land on the Earth from Mars, similar rocks could land on Mars from Earth (This even of life in found on Mars, it may be the product of Earth Contamination NOT the duplication of the start of life).

I bring up Mars, for if we are to find life, it is the mostly likely place (with the Second being the Moons of Jupiter, through several scientists have said some of the Moons of Jupiter and more likely then Mars to have life).

I go into the above, just to point out how hard for us on Earth to determine if Life does exist in other parts of the Universe. At present we do NOT have enough data points to say life exists outside the Earth with any degree of confidence. Logic requires data, and at present we do NOT have enough data to make any determination. We can guess, we can hope, we can say we think life exists, but we can NOT say it is illogical to reject the concept of Alien Life.

Yes, the opposite is also true, we can NOT rule out Alien Life given the low number of data points (i.e, one, life on Earth). Thus both can be the product of Statistics, simply because neither can statistically proved or disproved. logic requires more then hope and wishful thinking, and at present that is all we have.

For example, 61% of the people who voted for Romney think Global Warming is a hoax,
77% of the people who voted for Obama believe Global warming is NOT a hoax.

5% of the population who voted for Obama also believe he is the Anti-Christ.

While the population, as a whole, basically is even (44% to 45%) on the issue of Bush lying as to Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq, 69% of the people who voted for Obama said Bush had lied, and 72% of the people who voted for Romney, said Bush did NOT lie.

58% of Republicans believe Global Warming is a hoax, while 77% of Democrats do not (Independents are almost even 41-51%)

While 61% OF Democrats reject the Concept of a "New World Order", only 35% of Republicans do so.

72% of Democrats believe Bush lied about Iraqi Weapons of Mass Destruction.
73% of Republican believe Bush did NOT lie about Iraqi Weapons of Mass Destruction

On most things, the various groups, GOP-Democrats, Male-Female, Obama-Romney voters, Hispanic-African Americans and White, and various age groups, the greatest tendency was to be the same. Rarely the same precision same number, but mostly within 10 points of whatever was the most in the middle number.

Actually they do, way too often, always by telephone when I don't want to talk. I hang up on robocalls, but if I hear from a live person I suspect of working for the other side, I love to praise our side to the skies, just to see how long it takes for them to 'complete' their survey. You know they're only looking for people to say what they want to hear, so it can be trumpeted as true American opinion. Besides that, polls are the easiest things in the world to skew whichever way you want.

If I'm feeling especially impish, and it's clearly a conservative poll, I gush over us like a schoolgirl who's just spotted Bieber. Anything to waste their time and aggravate them.
