Ashley Judd Adviser: Dems ‘Duped’ Media With ‘False Narrative,’ Pushed Judd Out Of Senate Race

Source: Mediaite

Jonathan Miller, an adviser to Ashley Judd, took to The Daily Beast on Monday to set the record straight about the highly speculated Senate bid that never was. Miller squarely places blame on a “small coterie” of Kentucky Democrats who he says “duped” the national media into buying a false narrative… thus pushing Judd out of the race.

Pointing to a “dizzying blur of false testimony,” Miller notes that the national media had a “ravenous appetite” for stories about Judd. A small group of Democratic professionals, he argues, assisted in the effort against Judd in “nearly every article.” The “most egregious disinformation came from entirely anonymous sources.”

As an example, Miller points to a quote attributed to Judd in a Huffington Post story — “I have been raped twice, so I think I can handle Mitch McConnell” — which he says the actress never said and “would have been completely inconsistent” with the way she’s discussed those experiences.

The aspect of the whole situation that Miller focuses on, however, is the narrative about a seeming split in the Democratic Party and stories about Bill Clinton trying to get Judd out of the way, favoring Kentucky’s secretary of state, Alison Lundergan Grimes. In fact, he seeks to clarify, Clinton “had privately urged her to run against McConnell, offering his complete support for her prospective campaign.”

but I don't think Ashley Judd is qualified to be an US Senator. Have her run for a smaller office and get some experience first.

but they stole two elections to install him.

The qualifications are 1) age 2) winning an election, or if you are born with a golden spoon in your mouth, they will probably waive the other two.

with deep pockets, a program, and a pre-decided candidate. I base that on the sequence of the stories that came out. It's like the J. Edgar Hoover program of keeping everyone on line by showing them what he could expose about them. Vetting is reaching an art form, at least in a negative sense.

Just one guy's thoughts...

Why did Judd inspire this sudden wave of netroots excitement? Because she's a nominal "outsider"? If so, it's scant qualification for office.

I'm sorry she was subject to it. It sounds cruel, particularly in regard to the rape stories.

Wouldn't want that, would we.

And yea, she's totally qualified. I'm not sure if you've been watching the congress. Ever seen Louie Gomert? Ashley has a lot more real-world knowledge and IQ points than he does, and it's like people pretending there is such skill in shooting a gun. Christ, you just pull the trigger, and our politicians basically just vote. Most of the actual work is done by their "minions," their staff.

One other comment: Not sure I believe this story anyway.

Judd didn't seem prepared to handle these parries and that lack of seasoning would not have bode well in a run against McConnell. Like the critics said, they would have made Judd the issue and when a challenger is on the defensive the race is over. Sometimes it is the staff rather than the candidate that is not up to speed too and from this outburst one wonders.
Frankly, I would rather Judd learn more about the nuts and bolts of politics and come back 2 years from now against Rand Paul where some hay can be made (interview with Maddow where he supported the owners of segregated lunch counters).

part of the problem is that the Dems suffer from the same feudal kingdom tendencies that the POG (party of Gawd) suffers from

Ms. Judd's run may not have been successful but I think that given her academic credentials she had an excellent chance of out performing any of the recent flock of candidates

Really, we must be vigilant; 'our' brand is seriously damaged by this sort of crap, and results in bad news for Dems nationally.
