The clock started ticking Monday on an effort to recall Colorados governor the second attempt to remove Gov. Jared Polis since he took office less than two years ago.
The Colorado Secretary of States Office approved the petition for circulation Monday, and organizers have until Nov. 13 to collect 631,266 valid signatures to force a special election, as the Colorado Sun first reported. A recall election would also include a question asking voters to select a replacement.
Backers of the effort say theyre taking the step because Polis has abused his powers during the pandemic, including by forcing businesses and houses of worship to close and mandating masks.
People are just plain frustrated mad, said Greg Merschel of the Recall Polis 2020 committee.

(8,277 posts)Just to have a referendum confirming Coloradans' support for masks, and affirming how pathetic the anti makers are.

(6,785 posts)will demonstrate that even better.
My experience with Colorado recall votes is that the GOP are even better - FAR better - at suppressing Dem votes in recall elections than in any other kind.
The last time a recall went to a vote, one of the recalled State Senators resigned in order to keep the Democratic majority in the State Senate, which we sould otherwise have lost. But we still lost a stunningly good Majority Leader.

(260 posts)She's had 3 recall petitions filed against her this year, mostly citing her closures during the pandemic as over reach...
They've all failed and the last one ended a little over a week ago when they failed to turn in enough (any) signatures.
Good luck Colorado, may sanity reign...
