Kansas governor to order most Kansans to wear a mask in public

Source: Reuters

June 29 (Reuters) - Kansas Governor Laura Kelly on Monday said that she will sign an executive order requiring that most state residents must wear a mask in public in an attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Under the order that will go into effect on Friday, most Kansans must wear masks in stores and shops, and in any place where social distancing of 6 feet (1.83 meter) cannot be maintained, including outside, her office said in a statement.

She has been very good on this then the legislature tore it apart. She has continued to work on this with both hands tied behind her back. I think we opened up too fast even though it was in little steps but nobody asked me and they actually did not let her do what she was going to do. I do not know where you are from but do you actually know what has been going on here? Resign? Jesus, if you live here you have not been paying attention.

when you are from Kansas and you get a nice Democratic Governor it is hard to hear someone jump on them because even if they are not so good it is light years above everything we are used to. Laura has done well, she is going to keep doing well. Our legislature stinks and likely always will (fingers crossed to at least get out from under a super majority of R's) but she is moving our state one little bit at a time and shoring up our judges.

NOT Alabama but I will not say more. The Dems there need as much support as they can get, been there.

Our governor has been pushing a rock uphill trying to care for the citizens of this State. The Republican legislature attempted to wrest power away from her when she tried to close church gatherings, and she has been head and shoulders above many other regional governors in implementing measures to protect the idiots around here from themselves (don't get me started on Mike Parsons next door in Missouri). So unless you can come up with concrete evidence why you think she should resign, you, my friend, should stand down.

See the little graphs of the 50 states.
By default they are on a per-capita basis so that states can be compared fairly
"All charts are shown on the same scale. "
Kansas is the 22nd graph on this page (I haven't figured out how they come up with an order)

Click on any state's graph to bring up larger graphs and stats for that state, e.g. Kansas

Wore a mask for the first time today.
(I'm in South Australia, we fortunately do not many active cases here.COVID-19 is pretty much a non event here. Fortunately.)

Why today?

Well, went into a hospital with the wife, she was due for a CT scan.
Figured that a hospital is a great place for people to mingle and spread bugs, right? Not just the COVID one, either.
Got lots of strange looks, most people aren't bothering.

Fortunately wearing one, or not wearing one, hasn't become a political statement here.

I have a Biden style black one coming. Will wear it when out and about. Never know, wave 2 might surge soon. In the meantime, great way to keep my face warm!

I get odd looks as well, but I can’t tell if it’s that I’m masked, or that my mask says “Not today Satan.”

sounds like it would generate some conversation.

I wear my mask every time I am in a store - and it's pretty disheartening to see the looks I get from those not wearing them. I am becoming like a duck ...

called Mask 4 Mask. It was started by local drag queens. The masks are really well made, with cute designs, and for each one purchased, one is donated.

He said almost no one is wearing masks.

This will likely not go over well there...
