Reddit, Acting Against Hate Speech, Bans 'The_Donald' Subreddit
Source: NYT
SAN FRANCISCO Reddit, one of the largest social networking and message board websites, on Monday banned its biggest community devoted to President Trump as part of an overhaul of its hate speech policies.
The community or subreddit, called The_Donald, is home to more than 790,000 users who post memes, viral videos and supportive messages about Mr. Trump. Reddit executives said the group, which has been highly influential in cultivating and stoking Mr. Trumps online base, had consistently broken its rules by allowing people to target and harass others with hate speech.
Reddit is a place for community and belonging, not for attacking people, Steve Huffman, the companys chief executive, said in a call with reporters. The_Donald has been in violation of that.
Reddit said it was also banning roughly 2,000 other communities from across the political spectrum, including one devoted to the leftist podcasting group Chapo Trap House, which has about 160,000 regular users. The vast majority of the forums that are being banned are inactive.

Good riddance to "The_Donald" on Reddit.
And I don't mind them banning the forum devoted to the sleazy Chapo Trap House, either.

(48,968 posts)This group has coalesced around a loose group of left-wing media outlets that call themselves the dirtbag left, most notably the podcast Chapo Trap House. The dirtbag left promotes vulgar online attacks as a means of promoting left-wing politics, often through crass jokes in podcast episodes and on Twitter. (A recent Chapo episode involved hosts joking that Warren would have pretended to be Arab to join with the Flight 93 9/11 hijackers, making a crass sexual comment about Warren-sympathetic New York Times columnist Michelle Goldberg, and a proffering a jokey, false theory that Big Vaccine and/or Bill Gates made up the coronavirus.)

(18,672 posts)First of all, good riddance! At least The Donald kept them occupied. Now they will start brigading other subs a lot more than they already did. We saw it last time The Donald was banned.

(2,657 posts)It seemed like tens of thousands of the most idiotic, mouth breathing reprobates populated the subreddit known as "The Donald". It was like some kind of contest as to which user could shove his own head deeper up his own ass.
