Source: Bring Mn the News:
Four Minneapolis police officers involved in the incident that is believed to have led to the death of George Floyd have been fired.
Chief Medaria Arradondo and Mayor Jacob Frey made the announcement at a Tuesday afternoon press conference.
"This is the right call," Frey said.
Two more officers also responded to the scene a short time later.
None of the officers have been formally identified, but the officer with his knee on Floyd's neck is believed to be Officer Derek Chauvin.

(4,438 posts)people are going to get tired of this, and as a group, take these "policemen" down. From what I read of this story, the crowd got quite angry and started to encroach.
What happens to police credibility and effectiveness once that line is crossed, and criminal policemen find themselves subject to mob action?

(786 posts)This astonishes me. Usually it takes months and years for an "investigation" into police misconduct to be completed--and even longer if the fraternal order wants to slow things down. These firings show that an investigation can happen quickly when they want it to.

(4,438 posts)at the time of the incident. If you have a few dozen citizens watching two or more cops murdering someone, at some point, the crowd will decide to stop the murder.
And the police will not like the result.
Once that Rubicon is crossed, all trust and respect for the police evaporates.

(10,035 posts)Everyone has been labeling cops, firefighters and soldiers as heroes. Many of them are, but many are not. Theyre just people who cover the whole spectrum. How about that navy seal who murdered an injured captive and liked to use his sniper skills on civilians. Not very heroic. His teammates who reported him were the heroes.

(3,741 posts)I have had it!!!! I can't stand to see one more fucking cops killing. Is not their motto, "To serve and protect"? To protect the criminals in their own ranks is more like it.

(2,626 posts)An officer murdered an unarmed man while the his partners in crime stood by.
The victim of this criminal act of willful murder whispered, "I'm done, man. I'm done.", as he lay helpless. His neck crushed by the knee of the man sworn to protect and serve, the victim of this horrible act of violence took his last few breaths and then left this world.
It's appalling and disgusting. If we don't insist on change it will get worse. The actions of killer cops place all the good ones in danger. Citizens are not safe unless their skin is White. Enough. Enough.

(5,211 posts)Police are taught how to manhandle troublesome people they want to arrest with 'certain' restraining techniques.
Trouble is, they practice on each other in training, and being young and fit, nobody gets seriously hurt.
Do it to a person with underlying medical problems, like high blood pressure, for instance, and things can go horribly wrong.
Knee on the neck though, is a new one on me. A new training technique? A new session called 'how to kill a person of color and make it look like an accident?'
Just fired? Hell no, the cop with the knee needs to go to jail, and the other three charged with accessory to murder. They did nothing to stop the death.
The maximum violence technique used by cops these days need some revision in training. Most police forces around the world work on the principle on minimum physical contact to effect an arrest.
Got to wonder, if they were trying to subdue a white person, would it have resulted in such a violent death?
Can you trust police when they act like that? Violent thugs in police uniforms are still violent thugs.
