I agree with another post on DU, that this Trump thing isn't funny; he isn't insane. It's scary.

It's become obvious (at least through Twitter) that Russia has not stopped trying to interfere in our politics.
And I can't help but think Russia is working deeper than that—perhaps local politics, judges.
I think Nixon was nothing compared to what we are about to experience.
Trump and Pence are traitors. The GOP is not American, they are their own country. A country of rich.
Many of us are comfortable now, but these are very scary times.

5. I'm actually afraid to think of these as bad times because...

If things keep going in the direction they are with this crazy admin, in a fairly short time these may look like good times in comparison.

7. I am a news addict and even I had to watch HGTV home decor shows

tonight instead of the news.

9. I'm a news junkie too & mental health breaks...

Like watching HGTV, playing a game, listening to good music, etc are essential to maintaining our sanity and overall good health.

2. Trump, Evangelicals and other pseudo-Christians, and the "alt-right" are indeed disturbing

However, they also want to be taken seriously.

Humor is a tactic that must be used, even if it seems out of place.

3. I do and have done the same, but I'm starting to believe that Russia is a very serious threat.

They haven't given up on their coup.

6. Indeed. Putin also needs to be mocked. I wish I included him above.

It needs to be another thing we use as we also create a distinction between Putin and his band of cronies and the "107%" of the people who voted for him, we steer the conversation back to human and civil rights for Russian people, and we remember Putinism's victims such as Sergei Magnitsky and the people on MH17.

Talking about these things may get you a silent alerter just to warn you though. Sign you're doing something right.

4. I agree, it's not amusing anymore - it's gotten downright dangerous.

They're doubling down now - especially the saber rattling with North Korea. A president's job is to keep us out of war. This fool is out of control and I'm scared.

10. Agree!! No, it's not funny

I really don't think anyone is truly laughing. In fact it's sooo scary if people don't laugh a bit to ease the tension they are feeling.... well it makes it a bit easier to function, day in and day out

11. What is really scary is what he is trying to do to the media since they began reporting on him as

they should have been doing all along, calling out his lies and ignorance.

Here is what I believe is really important: 45 took a solemn oath as President to uphold and defend the Constitution ...
By threatening the press/media he is violating that oath in the second most dangerous way to the nation, the first being refusing to defend the nation against foreign enemies (we are not quite there yet.)

But we are definitely at the point of his abuse of power on the 1st Amendment. No one is taking this as seriously as they should be in my opinion. The ACLU or some other legal group should take this up. Believe me, if Obama had done or threaten the press as 45 continues to do, Judicial Watch would be all over him with law suits and pushing for impeachment.

13. Humor is a tool

It is a weapon in that ridicule is often the best way to undermine people who think too highly of themselves.

It is also a coping mechanism. We laugh so that we don't cry.

15. And yet ridicule is one of the few weapons left to us...

...with Congress and the courts partially or completely neutralized.

A Trump presidency is a severe threat--heck, a series of severe threats to us--but we can keep him feeling marginalized/humiliated until he quits.

17. Russia played a role, but the USA owns this crap!

The USA has many propagandists and far too many dummies who happily eat the swill.

It's not hard. Instead of challenging people like Democrats tend to do, tell them what they WANT to hear.
1. Christians are the best.
2. White people are the best.
3. The USA is the best.
4. Media outlets that question any of the above are wrong.
