OT: I've got a step son I've been hoping to help fix his stupidity for 26 or so years now.

Oh he wants to be a member of society but just can't see what his problem is. Like I've told him time and time again, Joey there is nothing wrong with copping a buzz from time to time but when thats all you live for there's something wrong with that. Good worker, smart as a whip and has no problem with getting a job and is well liked up until he gets enough money in his pocket to score some drugs then all bets are off until he's picked up for stupid shit and is put away for a while. They'll get him dried out and as soon as he gets the opportunity he's right in the thick of things again. The court system is about had it with him and his next step is the big house. And I promise him he will not like that one bit. I feel for him. I came into his life when he was 15 YO and its been a battle every since. When he's straight he can't think me enough for my ability to convey his problem to him in a manner he can see but like I said as soon as he's got a penny or two its back to the drugs.
This last time he went into an open attached garage and stole a car and that makes it a aggravated felony so he's in serious lock up drug rehab. He has his mom convinced they're simply housing him in a nursing home. The kids 42 or soon to be years old. He was sentenced to drug rehab here in ok about 10 years ago but as soon as he got a chance to run he took off like a rabbit. Now he's in Missouri and I feel sorry for him but theres nothing or his mother or I can do anymore
As I said he's one of those guys who aced all his test in High School because he's smart as a whip but stupid as the day is long

It breaks my Wife and my self's heart

He'll steal from us everything not nailed down and half of what is so that complicated things even more.

Pretty embarrassing, actually. I have two close repub friends and been friends with them since childhood. They both started out as anyone but Trump. One ended up voting Libertarian and the other reluctantly voted for Trump. The Libertarian voter still hates Trump and the other guy is now defending him even saying there must be something to the Obama wire tapping thing. I just say 'fucking listen to yourself. You saw quite clearly what Trump was when Marco Rubio was running against him."

methodology of the poll. NOBODY I know likes or approves of him and that includes republicans here. Of course, I live in a very blue area (Charlie Baker republicans) but still, 43%? That just seems way too high.

former has Trump with a 48% approval rating and the latter shows Trump with a 52% approval rating! The former got a C+ grade while the latter isn't even graded.

Since 538 is a 'poll of polls,' much depends on how it weighs the various polls to find its composite score. Last week, however, Gallup showed Trump's approval at only 39%. Hard to imagine his budget improving that number, but Gallup this week shows his approval rating is now 41%.

It's hardly comforting knowing that some 40% of the country are psychopaths.

shake up in govt and others voted for trump as being against hillary more than being for trump...buyers remorse can and will set in on this segment of trump voters. I think the base of trump is 32-35%...the hardcore of the hardcore and when we see consistent polling of approval ratings in mid 30's, conservatives in Congress will be soon cornered with a decision on what to do about trump who will remain deep in graft, lies and deceit of all kinds. 2018 is looking to be a disaster year for conservatives, they know it now...and their choice will be on how disastrous do they want the election to be.

psychopaths. Everyone else saw how he treated disabled people and women and still voted for him. I don't really give a shit what they say their reasons for voting for him were. No way you could watch him mock that disabled reporter or brag about sexually assaulting women, vote for him and not harbor deeply psychopathic tendencies.

While agreeing with you about what 2018 portends, there's a part of me that worries that Trump will find some means by which to suspend elections, maybe using a manufactured crisis to allow for suspension of the Constitution.

I've said since early 2016 that all leftists must hope for the best but plan for the worst.

And they could defend GWB. This guy, they can't defend. They're conservative, they have different values but even they can see the man is a dangerous idiot.

We're probably going into North Korea. Best of luck with that. China is the one that should go in there, but China has been more peaceful than we have. The United States is the war machine and we have a prison state based on percentage.

Trump is going to want a war. Just because he's bored and watching tv.
