The scumbag who shot my cousin & his son was found guilty on 15 counts this afternoon. It only took the judge a half an hour to determine his verdict.
I will post more -- much more -- about today's events in court later tonight. (At this time, a few family members and associates are here, celebrating the verdict.)
The DA was on fire today. I've never seen a DA do nearly this perfect a job.
Peace,
H2O Man

(8,175 posts)A jury would have been pretty hard on him, I suspect. Let's hope the judge deals with this fairly with the sentencing...but so far it sounds promising.

(59,578 posts)H2O Man, I've been following your postings through gritted teeth. I can't imagine what you and your family have had to endure.
Beyond that, how is it even possible that a sick asshole like the freshly minted convict you watched in court today could hold a position of real power for years, as he apparently did.
Our family's very best to yours!

And may the murderous bastard who took your family member from you have a long, long, time to ponder the error of his ways.

(8,558 posts)I've been keeping up with your posts this week about the trial, but wasn't expecting a verdict so quickly. Wonderful news, justice has prevailed. It won't bring your cousin's son back, but it will help the healing for you and your family. Now I am hoping a lengthy sentence, hopefully the remainder of his natural life since he really needs to be kept separated from civilized people.

(10,494 posts)No doubt you can take solace that you, your cousin, the D.A., Judge and your family all saved the lives of unknown others that this sick bastard would have killed or hurt if he was set free. From your earlier posts he had already injured others and no doubt would have continued to do so had y'all not had the perseverance to see this through to the end. Though he will have his appeals, it is unlikely he will prevail and will spend the rest of his crappy life behind bars!!!

(8,175 posts)Was the prosecutor able to bring into evidence, the fact that this man had an absolute arsenal in his home and vehicle. If so, that might be used in the future when shaping legislation on gun control.
I personally believe that anyone who builds up personal arsenals, of not just weapons, but ammo too, needs to be on some kind of watch list, and maybe should not be holding public jobs like police, or night guards, or other duties that require weapons.
We need to take it very seriously when someone feels the need to build up an arsenal. There is just something wrong with that, and too many mass shooters tend to do that. Or people who join Militia groups that tend to go against the law, claiming they are following constitutional rights.
