Just had an argument on FaceBook with a rightwing gun person...

I don't mean to be insulting to any DU'rs here—this is about the extreme right wing gun folks;
After I argue with these right wing gun obsessed people, I feel like I need to jump in the shower so I don't catch something.
There's just something creepy about their approach to the subject. It's almost like I'm talking to a hollow head.

However, I'd be inclined to ask them if they're quite content if their own son, daughter, mother, cousin, whatever is killed by gun violence. If they say yes, they're irremediable. If no, point out the disconnect between approving of guns and how they'd feel if it actually struck home.

Me? I've never personally been affected by gun violence, lucky me. But nonetheless I'm totally opposed to guns and think they should be confiscated. Not a popular stance, I understand, but somehow it strikes me as a fuck of a lot better than the thirty or so people who die every day from guns. Not to mention the greater number who kill themselves with guns. Or the slightly lower number who die from gun "accidents". Is this really acceptable? Is this who we are as a nation?
