I have a friend I met through podcasting (so he's kind of a associate/friend); After listening to his show for years, I'd always assumed he was a Republican (he was the co-host, and the host was obviously right-wingand my friend confirmed this).
I was on FaceBook yesterday, and saw 2 posts: one condemning the Koch brothers, and the other taking a stab at the GOP. I looked over and saw both posts were 'liked' by my podcast friend.
It made me smile: I knew he was too smart to be a GOP'r.
I wrote him and told him I was happy to see he voted on the left; he wrote back that he's always been a blue voter, and sees the GOP as a party for the ultra rich and wacky religious types.
Now, LET'S KEEP THE SENATE!!! (just thought I'd throw that in there).

(4,835 posts)They rarely post anything political and I suspect that it is because of the bullying that our republican friends dish out.
So my news feed is full of the most ignorant conservative bullshit, but probably half of my friends are democrats. This will be an interesting election I think.

(34,845 posts)They fly an American flag every day on their front porch. I just assumed that meant they were right-wingers but, no, they had Democratic signs in their yard last election and after talking with them, they seem not to be crazed fanatics like most of the GOP.
Go figure.

(2,529 posts)turns out to be on the left. I naturally assumed an Army officer would be a staunch Republican and was delighted to learn he was a fiery liberal. I married me that hunk of man meat.
