There was a line of 4 or 5 people, so I took my time looking for something to drink.
When I was done, I walked up to the counter, and the line was gone.
But so was the cashier.
I assumed he went to the restroom so I waited.
...and waited.
...and waited.
"Hello?" I called out.
Then I heard the door rattle, and saw someone outside looking at me confused, and then looking down at a sign on the door.
I walked over to the door, and turned the sign around:
"Closed. Back in 15 minutes."
Woo hoo! All you can eat!
Nah, I didn't touch anything. I was a little perturbed because I hadn't had dinner yet, but considering the surroundings, I didn't worry about starving to death.

(16,820 posts)Convenience stores usually ring everyone up and then lock the doors behind the last person when they need to close for brief periods. I guess the cashier didn't see you back there.

(12,188 posts)When he got back, and was ringing up my order, he told me he left (and didn't see me there) because he had just realized that he left $4000 on his table at home (I'm assuming it was 711 money), and wanted to take care of it. I believe they are a family owned franchise, and he is one of the brothers. His English is broken, so it's difficult to know exactly what he was saying. But I agreed with him that leaving the money out was important.

Glad you made it out!

(15,681 posts)I don't know, though. I've never been locked in a convenience store. I was locked in my own apartment last year. Faulty lock. Upstairs unit. I considered the possibilities of getting out and did get a little panicky. I finally figured I should call management. The maintenance guy came and got me out within a half hour.
Strange feeling. I've been locked out of my house in the past but never locked in. Lol.

(543 posts)Mr.Thirties wanted to climb around the outside of the bridge where it was locked, but Awkward Me said no, I'd fall, we should instead wade across the Gila River. We waded and I fell. The Gila had water in it, but not much.
Euphoria
(448 posts)History one Sunday evening with our elementary school-aged kids once. And this was wayyyy before those "Night at the Museum" movies. Lemme tell you, it was totally scary. I was just trying to keep my composure in the stuffed mammals section. As kid I was totally scared of the elephants charging at me and here I was with my kids wandering around in the dark, lost and looking for an exit. It was scary but also absolutely hilarious!
