I have to give it up to Steve Schmidt's willingness to be honest after the fact.

The book and the movie Game Change is obviously based on large part by a very extensive debriefing of Schmidt as well as others.

How many times have we said or heard that it isn't the crime that brings you down its the cover up.

Here we have an intellectually honest guy who after the fact came 100% clean in his effort of trying to pull a swift one and help elect somebody who was unfit for office.

Shame on you for doing it but kudos for being honest about it after the fact.

He ruined any chance of ever being the head of a major Republican campaign again, because you can't get hired again if you are known to tell all the secrets after the fact.

I look forward to seeing Schmidt give pretty intelligent commentary on MSNBC for years to come.

BTW the funniest part of the movie is the fact that it showed the McCain campaign glued to MSNBC and feeling stung by every one of their fact based attacks.

If you didn't see the movie the high point of the movie for me is when Woody Harreleson playing Steve Schmidt yells out in desperation that he has to get McCain to "stop watching Keith Olbermann". I would have paid $ 10 at a movie theater just to see that one line on the big screen.

Mc Cain, not so much. Since moving to Arizona I've pretty much come to think of him as a doddering old fool but every once in awhile he actually says something that makes sense which is way more than I can say for the rest of the Republicans in this state. The rest of them are off the rails in a Michelle Bachman sense of insanity.

....the whole reason why they chose Palin is because they were trying to get the women's vote!

3. I will always remember McCain looking @ Palin's ass for minutes on end when he ....

.... brought her out for the first time. National TV and all he did was look
at her backside.



BTW the pick of Palin was the first time that a veep pick had a quantifiable effect on a tickect
... outside of a home state bump .... and palin was drag on the ticket and in particular among
women voters.

4. Leering at her backside wasn't all he did

At first he had a goofy grin on his face that was almost a grimace, and I heard him utter a bunch of grunting noises - all while twisting his wedding ring as though he wanted to take it off and toss it into the crowd. Altogether creepy performance.

8. true, it was a very cynical move for him...

...& many GOP commentators noticed that too! Including Peggy Noonan & Mike Murphy....

But having read the book & seeing the movie yesterday, I understood that he was trying to win the election & that's all! It gives new meaning to the phrase 'country first'...

I also remembered (while watching that film) that during the primaries, Chris Matthews said that some McCain people had asked him to cover more about what McCain was doing & less about Obama.
But the problem with that is, everything Obama did was news!! McCain wasn't doing anything newsworthy & that's why they didn't cover him as much....
