Obama met Monday with Jack -- the 7-year-old brain cancer patient who became a national phenomenon after running for a 69-yard touchdown in the Husker spring game this month.
Obama spent about 15 minutes with Jack and his parents, little sisters Ava and Reese and former Husker Rex Burkhead, who joined the family after being drafted by the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday.
It was awesome, said Burkhead, who befriended Jack shortly after he was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2011. It was a great experience, to see the president interact with Jack, and it brings awareness to pediatric brain cancer, our cause and goal.
Jack met with Obama in the Oval Office, where the president asked him to introduce his family, told him he had seen him on ESPN and was following his story, and gave him a football with the presidential seal and his autograph.

(22,541 posts)And Jack's family. It has really been a team effort among them all, bringing attention to pediatric brain cancer. I'm so glad that a special football player was recognized in a small way. And that a special kid got to meet POTUS. And that President Obama got to do something happy. Kudos to the Senator, as well. I bet she mentioned it at the dinner for the female senators!
It's just good news all around and we sure can use it!
