Amazing how much Central Asia and the Middle East have regressed. I have photos of my family in Baghdad in the 50s and 60s and it is unrecognizable -- the city and the people. The fashions, in particular. Only "the crazies" and uber devout would be caught wearing the hijab. Now it's practically mandatory. That's what happens when religion is allowed to run rampant, unchecked.
