"Aww, Joe. Things aren't going so well for your side of the deficit hawk debate, are they? So now you are outright lying. Of course, you know damn well that Dr. Krugman never said we shouldn't do anything about the deficit. You "conveniently" left out what he prescribed: a vigorous, well funded jobs program that would help solve the unemployment problem and have more money flow into the tax coffers. And it would also repair infrastructure and promote growth.
If we're "not so bright," how come we know this and you don't?
Methinks you are feeling the heat right about now with your shriek of "we're not talking about austerity!" Get a grip, Joe. You don't fool anyone but the bobbleheads around your show's set."
He was lying and he was insulting, both signs that he and his brand are in the virtual doghouse of informed opinion on what needs to be done to "solve" the debt and deficit "problem." He's stooping to name calling: you see, we are just "not very smart." We need to be goobers, like Joe's followers...
Can't wait to see Dr. Krugman's incisive comments on Scar's comments, a bit later in PK's NY Times blog....

(63,889 posts)I taunted them with a link to Colbert's devastating take-down (briefly featuring lame-ass Scarborough touting the R-R LIE (tipping point for disaster is 90% of GDP, totally discredited by the lowly UMASS grad student).
Gene Robinson tried to get a point in Krugman's favor, even if ever so gingerly (I like Gene but he can be too nice sometimes).
It can be a shitty show, but I just don't watch all of it. Today it was fun seeing Joe trying to squirm out of the R-R box he put himself in...and then calling him on it...

(63,889 posts)PK has been pretty great at answering for me. And he does it in the New York Times. That's just fine with me...
I think Colbert's take down was so scathing and so funny that Joe is just floundering around, throwing out insults.

(63,889 posts)Joe didn't go to an Ivy League school and he's jealous. I guess he pays shills like Haas and even Jeff Sachs to be "backup." The result was that Haas looks like a total sell-out and Sachs looks embarrassed.
