Cop Sexually Assaults Woman, Then Arrests Her For Protesting The Assault

I-Team: Taxpayers Could Foot the Bill in Alleged Sexual Assault
LAS VEGAS -- Clark County taxpayers may have to pay settlement money to a sexual assault victim and the family court marshal accused of assaulting her.
The I-Team broke the story of a wide-ranging investigation into family court abuse last month. Marshal Ron Fox was fired for sexually assaulting a woman in court and arresting her when she spoke up about it.
The video the I-Team uncovered is spurring outrage with viewers and shaking up the court. But the marshal that internal affairs called a liar may still get a taxpayer funded payday. The I-Team uncovered video of marshal Ron Fox arresting Monica Contreras. She was in court for a protection order hearing.
Internal affairs documents reviewed by the I-Team conclude Fox took Contreras to a side room and inappropriately searched her. When Contreras told the hearing master, Fox arrested her for making a "false allegation against a police officer." There is no Nevada law supporting the stated reason for that arrest.
Hearing master Patricia Doninger ignored Contreras' pleas in the courtroom during her arrest. Tuesday, in court, Fox's attorney said because nobody in court stopped Fox, the arrest was legal.

The video is just insane. The hearing master turned away from her and played with the kid. Video at both links (included the first link as that is where I found out)

(48,121 posts)Have refrained from sources I found on news searches before but the title fit better and people are all like 'why did you change the title??' - so then I include the source where it came from and people are like 'why did you link there?'
Oh I dunno, I search a million different things and don't have a rolodex of what sites post what kind of things, if I took out that much time for every single thing I posted it would take forever (and when I DO have any doubt I try to get a second source like I did here but still give credit back).

I read these kinds of threads every single day, and every single day the same cop apologists come in and tell us how most cops are the good guys. If most cops are good then why do over half of them admit they've stayed silent about another cops dirty deeds?
Me thinkith they shillith to much

(3,425 posts)and the thing that surprised me most was the number of cops that are charged with sexual assault and often with minors. It is quite disturbing. There is an alarming number of police brutality cases reported on a daily basis. The use of cell phone cameras has really made the public much more aware of the problem. We need a better screening system before these people are hired.

(35 posts)fair coverage to this issue. Too many people won't even look at a story no matter how true it is, unless it comes from a talking head at corporate owned media. And then because they're uninformed they continue to preach the lie about how there are very few bad cops. I applaud you for thinking outside the box.
The Straight Story
(48,121 posts)And yeah, there are some really good ones out there.
But the bad ones seem to have gotten more and more in control of things.
One story I have related many times over the years is that after I first starting working at the county jail I found pot on an inmate. The cops missed it. Our intake deputies missed it. I found on it him before sending him back to his cell.
Reported it to my cpl and asked if he wanted me to file a report, etc. Nope. He said he would handle it and never heard a word about it again. I know where it ended up
There is systemic corruption - but there is also the other side of it where inmates (and those related) will do anything they can to bring down a cop to punish them (even though they don't prosecute, etc). I have had an inmate wait outside the jail and follow me home before.
I have also gotten out of many tickets because I was a cop, even when I ceased being one (except one) - and several of the ones I got out of was because I knew I was being pulled over for BS reasons and told the cops that.
Cops though are like politicians. They tend to protect each other when they can. And it is not just in official matters. Some own side businesses. And that is a whole other ball game.
I would never go back to that line of work and glad I didn't make a career out of it. And it is worse still when you get to judges and prosecutors (I did security at the county court house before I became a deputy).

(3,425 posts)It is too bad that the system is so messed up that good people do not stay there long.

Yeah that relationship between the number of people who say "almost all cops are good cops" and the number of cops who basically admit to being dirty is a dysfunctional one.
I've read your stuff for 5 years and if you had been a dirty cop, you either wouldn't be here posting what you post or you experienced a dramatic and complete mental transformation.
Either way, keep on, Straight

(3,179 posts)It seems the entire police department witnessed the abuse. Please tell me these abusive bastards suffered appropriate consequences. It's cops such as these and the ones covering for them who perpetuate a negative opinion of all law enforcement officials.

(38,187 posts)you have all those huge assholes wrestling you down and beating you repeatedly.
All those assholes need to be fired.
On edit: I finally watched it to the end and saw how many came in later.
