Guess who's really pissed about this billboard?

GREELEY, Colo. (AP) - Two Greeley billboards on which images of Native Americans are used to make a pro-gun rights argument are causing a stir with some residents who say the image is offensive and insensitive.

The billboards show three men dressed in traditional Native American attire and the words "Turn in your arms. The government will take care of you."

According to the Greeley Tribune, Matt Wells, an account executive with Lamar Advertising, says a group of local residents purchased the space.

Greeley resident Kerri Salazar, who is of Native American descent, says she was livid when she learned about it.

Some of the most hardcore anti government people I know are Native American.

I have seen many rifs on that theme all over reservations out west. Many Native Americans have feelings along those lines.

15. As if using a people to advertise the implements of their subjugation can be anything but racist.

Guns destroyed Native American civilization. If you can't see that, your intellectual capacity for rational thinking is questionable. Or you're simply being intentionally dishonest.

18. Tell that to the Native Americans here in the west. A lot of rifs on that theme all over the place.

Firearms were not the seminal cause of the subjugation of Native Americans. Saying so indicates that your intellectual capacity for rational thinking is questionable. Or you're simply being intentionally dishonest.

Sickness and alcohol also had a lot to do with it, as did white racism.

but not for the reason some may assume. You did not include the reason she doesn't like the billboard.

"She said she doesn't have a problem with the apparently pro-gun rights message, she's offended the Native American people were singled out, apparently without their consent."

was not at the link when I looked at it.

Of course, I don't know the complete thought the people behind the billboard had with their intent but I am guessing they did not intend to make light of the plight of the Native Americans.

I used to work with a guy who grew up on the Pine Ridge Reservation before being sent to Catholic boarding school when he was a sophomore in high school.
