conversation from this weekend

I was at a (chess) tournament this weekend and overheard/marginally participated in an interesting conversation. The other participants were all Republicans from the very red states of Wyoming and South Dakota. They had not voted for Obama, but in retrospect they were glad that he had won as against Romney, and they were very disapproving of Republican congressional blanket opposition to Obama, and thought that they should be trying to work together to move the country forward--which they thought that Obama was doing.

These were conservative guys of moderate position and influence.

I let them know I was a Democrat, and the response was, "Well, I hope that doesn't mean that we can't get along."

I assured them that I felt the same way.
