has the youtube comments section always been full of holocaust deniers and straight-up Nazis?

And I am not using the word as a hyperbolic substitute for conservatives, but actual Nazis. I was watching some pretty good documentaries on WWII from the BBC and other reputable, mainstream broadcasters and I mean, jeez.

And are there more of these people than I thought, or is this just the internet artificially magnifying things?

It gives anonymous racists and dirtbags a place to sound off. Some number of these people wouldn't say these things in real life, but many do.

The Internet is generally full of overt anonymous racists.

Nothing has changed except for the complete racism that has swept the place since the election of a certain president.

horrible spellers who come in droves and vote down every post that is even remotely pro-Obama. I wonder why the Mods of that channel don't remove them. Some are out and outright racist. If you call them on it, your post gets voted down by hordes of these asswipes. I've since stopped commenting on the Obama Channel. I don't even know if it's still up.

But they can get away with lots of schoolyard bullying and immature F-bombing. Try to retaliate with level-headed reasoning and your post disappears.

I just never paid attention to them. I go there to watch videos not read opinions. DU is really the only place I do that. I just happened to scroll down a bit yesterday and holy mary mother of god.

but I am not going to avoid youtube, just going back to avoiding the comments.

and a lot of bored teenagers and people in their early 20's. I like it for it's easy access to lots of different types of videos. But I always need a lobotomy after 5 minutes of reading the comments. If you want even worse and want your mind to be scarred for life, try the "b" section of 4chan. Brain bleaching afterward is required.

Indeed, I find it difficult to sit through any video that has people talking, the input is just too damn slow, I feel like I'm watching in s l o w m o t i o n.

You can expect stupid and disgusting posts on political videos, comes with the territory. If you want really nasty try reading the comments to just about any newspaper website.

It's mostly concerts and other music I watch on Youtube and while the comments can get fairly nasty sometimes they're not nearly at the level of ignorance and hate of those on the political videos.
